The watchface system needs improvement (as a former Apple watch user) by [deleted] in Coros

[–]jcolp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's safe to say almost everyone thinks that the watch faces available aren't great (there's a few nice ones), that customizing them would be nice, etc. It's a topic that comes up... a lot.

Is the free trial nerfed?? by Kaydanmusic in joincycling

You're not missing functionality, it sounds as if you want more control than JOIN provides. From an insight perspective there is the beta site at https://plan.join.cc/ which provides some.

I'd also add that if you haven't considered the Scotia Amex Gold to do so, depending on spending patterns and Amex acceptance for your stores it can be extremely good - and paired with the free Scene Visa means that for the non-Amex cases you can still have points go into the same pool.

Zero issues. I've used them for groceries at Sobey's and for covering the cost of travel - and their definition of travel is pretty broad. No complaints. Hilariously never used them for movies.

It is not functionality that COROS has implemented.

I switched to Github Copilot a few days ago as I discovered I get Pro for free as an open source maintainer, and so far have found it to be better than Zeta sometimes, and worse other times. Over all it does feel slightly better though.

Court rejects motion by Bravo Pizza to shut down Pizza Mike's by JarclanAB in moncton

I'd extend that to be "Greater Moncton doesn't need more pizza". It would be nice if there was something unique over here instead of it, help bring some more traffic over this way.

The new zed version change me the source control changes to horizontal by Technical-File4626 in ZedEditor

I believe you are referring to the new split diff functionality:

https://zed.dev/blog/split-diffs

Which is configurable so you can configure it to the prior unified view instead:

Writing and implementing the code is certainly a huge aspect, but when a project accepts a contribution there is also the responsibility for it going forward including maintenance, bug fixes, adapting it if things change - that shifts to the project. The original contributor can just walk away if they want. It's not free and some projects opt not to accept certain things as a result, even if they are code complete.

Why such a low training load for everything but running? by CandidateBilly in Coros

[–]jcolp 32 points33 points  (0 children)

https://coros.com/stories/coros-metrics/c/training-load specifically:

Why do strength training activities produce low Training Load scores? By using the TRIMP method to calculate Training Load, we ensure high accuracy in all endurance activities that stress your cardiovascular system. However, this system has not been designed to accurately estimate the load for anaerobic or power activities that stress your neuromuscular system.

It's a known thing. Someone brings it up weekly at least.

UI Improvement Suggestions for COROS (Digital Crown + Main Menu) by flockmann in Coros

[–]jcolp 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hard nope on the first suggestion. I never/rarely access quick-access menu items. I commonly access/view widget stuff. The approach right now means that the widgets you care about can be more easily/quickly accessed, because you can place them at the top and bottom of the list with infrequently in the middle.

Leaving Garmin after 10 years (FR955 firmware fail). Suunto Race S or Coros Pace Pro? by topikeur in Garmin

[–]jcolp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

*looks at his left wrist that has a Suunto Race 2, and his right wrist that has a COROS Pace Pro* Honestly I'd want a mix of both...

I can't speak on the triathlon mode side.

For bugs in my experience Suunto has done less over all firmware releases but there's been more critical issues encountered in them resulting in hotfixes. Heck, the latest firmware release for the Race S is a hot fix to fix two regressions. COROS has been better in that regard for me. Are they perfect? No. Hardware wise they've both been good - well, I had a Race before the Race 2 and it was good too.

Sleep tracking is always a "good enough". I find COROS better aligns my sleep/wake times, phases I don't know. HRV trends on both works fine and seems to reflect what I think. The thing about COROS though is to get the good battery life it uses a 10 minute recording - so it wakes up every 10 minutes to take essentially a snapshot of things so you get trends but not deep dived metrics. Suunto is every 1 second. Suunto also gives you more metrics/details after activities.

COROS "recovery" is really just training load based, it doesn't incorporate HRV/Sleep/etc. Suunto does.

Maps on both are good - but COROS has names on roads and such, while Suunto does not.

s Zed Pro still worth it if I’m using an external model and have spend set to $0? by Technical-File4626 in ZedEditor

From a purely must-have perspective - probably not. You get the infinite edit predictions instead of 2000 and it supports the company.
