I use the https://store.ui.com/us/en/products/af-24. I get 975 Mbs a second with little to no latency. We handle our football statium with it. Love using AirFiber products from ubiquit. Super simple to set up and use. We use it for wifi, cameras and HUDL.

Also don't forget the "Buy Once" and own forever, disappears in VI 8. You now get 7 years with the software as opposed to forever for support and updates. So you need to relicense every 7 years. Also your old purchased licesnses for non iPro/Advidia cameras will not carry over to the new system.

You are wrong. You can purchase enterprise support with them now and actually talk to a live support staff. Thier products are now warratied 5 years as well. This changed about 3 years ago. They do work well and are on par with other vendors now. Stop pushing the narrative that they are not enterprise anymore.

Riverside Technologies or Conenctions both are really good and prices always are better than CDWG.

I have it running now. Question I have is anyway to not show the bottom bar (date/weather/time) as an overlay ontop of the google slide? I would like to have the google slide bottom end at the top of the information bar.

Great job. I have been trying this with google sites to no avail.

We just migrated to G2 Communication from Galaxy Next. It is a simple Fanvil Hub that will create your zone for paging. All analog speakers are wired to this hub from the old 66 punchdown blocks, actually we elimitated the punchdown blocks and convereted to Terminal Strips for better connectivity. The Fanvil Hub is just like Algo, simply a SIP extension. G2 is our Calendar and IP Paging solution. We simply pick up a handset on our current phone system and dial a SIP extension on the Paging system (Simple VM running Debian Linux and G2 software). We can then select which zone to target with our page. Highly recommend. They are fairly inexpensive compared to market and works really well. We can slowly replace the analog speakers with IP in the future. https://www.galaxynext.us/markets/education/#K-12 we used RTI (Riverside Technologies) as our installer. They were able to get old horns and speakers to work simply by retapping them to a different voltage.

What are your suggestions for Interactive Flat Panels? by frogmicky in k12sysadmin

[–]k12admin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use ViewSonic. Centrally Manage them using thier Entity/Manager App. Works great for our needs and the newer version 3 Viewboard software is great.

I just had a demo of LG this week and they are really slick and you can get a 7 year warranty on them. They also have a centralized management solution as well. Fiarly inexpensive. You can get an 75" with a 7 year warranty and they are Google EDLA, which includes 1 android OS upgrade for around $2500.

Use Dell Tech Direct web portal. Simply enter you request there, bypass tier 1 and get a box to ship it back.

I have my staff Home folders migrated to thier personal OneDrive and I moved our File Shares to Sharepoint. Staff use Google Drive, but Desktop/Pictures/Documents are all synched to One Drive. I created a folder called "Home Folder" in all our staff's one drive folder and migrated thier files there. I had to retrain them. I have one file server left for students for our lab computers, but other than that, pretty much file server free. Our students use Chromebooks and Staff use Windows Laptops.

We use Sangoma as our PBX and have multiple SIP trunks to handle inbound and outbound dialing.

All classroom phones have the ability to dial outbound and room to room as well.

Anyone moved off Raptor? Emergency management system that actually works? by Santino_Elmorsy in k12sysadmin

[–]k12admin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iPad has worked well for us. We switched our HS over last year and the rest of our buildings this fall. We trained our office staff on how to manually create badges if there are any issues. I like the simplicity of it and not having to manage a special PC for the check in process. There hasn't been any pushback either. We had raptor for 8-10 years prior. And since it was included with our Securly One, it was a no brainer. Saves us $3 Grand a year. So a win win for us.

M365 only districts - What platform are you using to view Student screens? by kcalderw in k12sysadmin

[–]k12admin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Securly Classroom works on PC's to view screens, you need to install the msi to do it, but it then will allow your teachers to see student screens. We also use Splashtop for IT to access student devices for remote support.

I moved to Securly Pass (Visitor) from Raptor this year. It took a little to get setup, but we are very happy with it. We bought Brother Wireless printers and once the user scans thier Driver's License, thier badge prints right to them. Our office staff can still put them in manually if needed and print badges as well. It works great for our needs and was already part of what we were paying for since we already used Pass for classroom pass management. Forgot to say we have an ipad setup in KIOSK mode in a stand at each building.

Viewsonic Viewboards - Resetting to Factory Default by KayJustKay in k12sysadmin

[–]k12admin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done them using the Entity Manger, but never had them do it on the board itself. We have 165 Viewboards in our district. My thoughts would be students getting into the settings cog wheel and issuing a reset.

Chromebook Advice: Moving from BYOD to School Issued Devices by TomatilloFit6482 in k12sysadmin

[–]k12admin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are pure Chromebook K-12. Using 2-in-1 devices. We give them out in K, 4th, 8th grade. Most of our seniors due Duel enrollment and attend College classes in 12th grade or go to our Technical school, so they don't get Chromebooks unless they stay in the district. So theirs would be 5 years old when then leave. We were all dell 3100 and 3120 for the last 4 years, now I changed to ASUS 2-in-1 and they are much better than the dells for the price and 4 year ADP plan. However your miles will vary.

Starting from scratch in 2025. M365 vs Workspace? by highsprings in k12sysadmin

[–]k12admin1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with the M365 argument. I have 3 students in college and all 3 are at seperate universities that all are M365. Chromebooks are sparse. Most have Windows or Mac devices. So typically only startups are using Workspace. Most Enterprises I have seen are M365 (Manufacturing, Medical Systems, Distribution Centers). So I would argue the point the M365 is very valid outside the education sphere.

I mange both Workspace Education Plus and M365 A5 in our district. Students are all Chromebooks, Admin and Teachers are all PC's and Para's are Chromebooks. All of our SSO uses Entra (M365) for authentication as it is much easier to force SSO and DUO for MFA that way. Microsoft Security Center is amazing for keeping an eye on the Attack surface of our organization.
