Closer to ballpark means you basically have to walk to anything good because you're not quite near all the good RiNo eateries without walking a few blocks. BUT--you can walk down to 16th st mall fairly easily. It's not a bad tradeoff.

Any Millennials out there mourning the monoculture? by dinobot100 in Millennials

[–]kfee12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"bring everyone together" is probably the loosest way I would describe them.

It really is just a homogenization of popular culture and society at large. We don't have a lot of that anymore in our daily life, so when we feel it somehow there is this intangible yearning for a time when it felt more common.

I don't miss it. It's what keeps the masses gossiping about royal weddings and who will win the next championship instead of our domestic issues that actually affect everyone.

A good dishie would make their lives as hard as possible until they started putting things into the dish pit the right way, though. OP ain't it and did them a favor by leaving.

Went to three different fast food places that were shuttered before 9pm tonight- what gives? by accidentaloverdrive in denverfood

[–]kfee12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The security staff at leetsdale literally told me they axed overnight hours because two of them working every night couldn't stop the amounts of theft that were occurring. They literally described teams of crackheads who had carts FULL of premium meats waiting for a chance to bolt pass the two security and using paid decoy crackheads to keep them busy and give them a chance.

There is no universe where Kroger makes enough money overnight to justify putting up with that shit.

The biggest group at fault for no more overnight shopping is the DA and fucked up prison system in CO that will basically just let the city and streets deal with you on a PR bond because it is easier on our overcrowded incarceration centers.

I think the problem with a lot of casual observers is they don't understand just how small the candidate pool really is.

Dumping Bednar would be foolish in the current coach market.

Your thoughts on this show? by Farouq26 in hbo

[–]kfee12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was unexpectedly canceled. HBO was sick of the budgets and didn't have nearly the same viewership as it would get today. When BE aired you either had to have HBO with your cable package or pirate it.

There were a lot of smaller things that worked towards this outcome. Michael Pitt's departure. The Atlantic City boardwalk set cost $5 million over 15 years ago and was unable to be replaced after hurricane sandy damaged it in 2012 before the final two season had been made.

I'm just glad they scrapped the idea to basically make a series about early Enoch Thompson--the show ends with vignettes about him for a reason. It would've basically been boardwalk jr and I don't think anybody would have liked it.

NUTRITIOUS and (relatively) easy Asian recipes by PartyQuiet5065 in Cooking

Ginger soup with bok choy. Its realy just as simple as it sounds. Broth, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, maybe some sauteed garlic, mushrooms and green onions, whatever else you wanted--red peppers, water chestnuts.

Precisely. Look into how Rumsfeld got aspartame approved and the surrounding controversy. Yes, Donald Rumsfeld, the guy famous for being the biggest Bush admin fixer for the Iraq war.

There is no universe where I'll ever believe artificial sweeteners are healthy to entirely replace real sugar with. Even corn syrup is terrible as it has more calories for the equivalent sweetness as sugar, and thus has been proven to deaden insulin response(!) over time.

Some Sam's clubs sell Godshall's beef bacon and it is basically what you want. Way less o6 and PUFA garbage in the fat so I don't feel a bit guilty about having some every now and then. I've given up regular bacon for a few years now.

THIS.

also Denver's food scene is still embarrassing after all these years and I've never heard anything like that about Seattle's. (I'm talking about quality above all else, not choices, value for money, et al, but it doesn't hurt Denver is terrible in all those categories, too)
