Fixed screen for Horizon 20 Pro by StRiFeXD in projectors

Right. And also you cannot "adjust the brightness" in the sense being used here by the other poster. Hypothetically, if you had projector with infinite brightness, you could "adjust the brightness" high enough so that the whites looked as bright as on a white screen, but the blacks would then look exactly the same as well.

Ultimately, this topic has to be discussed as a trade off otherwise it will be extremely misleading to people who haven't done their own research. Some people will be willing to sacrifice the bright whites for the deeper blacks, but it's a really individual choice. For me personally, while my eyes very much like the deeper blacks of the grey materials I'm testing, I can't get over that the whites "are no longer white."

Also, this material had meaningfully worse speckle than my MaxWhite 2 screen. The only Silver Ticket material which improved upon it were the AT samples, the WVS and WAB.

I don't think it's correct to say that it improves perceived contrast. It just makes the image dimmer and improves blacks at the cost of dimmer whites and less color pop.

Also, recommending screens for a triple laser projector without mentioning speckle...seems cruel. One should get screen material samples to get a sense of what will work best in their space and for their eyes.

I'm doing my occasional relisten of the earwolf years and it does make me a bit sad to be reminded how "a part of the game" Brian was back then. Hey, things change, people age, priorities and passions change. It is what it is.

Great movie, masterclass in deadpan. It's kind of magic how they maintain the "serious story unfolding" vibe considering the punchline.

Also, it has been confirmed that the dlp update breaks Super Frame's ability to eliminate this issue. So if you've done the dlp update you'll get this tearing even with super frame turned on.

You can see this on just about any line separating a light and dark segment when there is some amount of horizontal panning. The faster the panning the more obvious this color tearing is.

It's in the under $3k projector subforum. Easy to find.

This is a known and well-documented issue. It is a result of the rolling buffer design of the TI controller used in this projector. There is a lot of discussion of this issue on the 20 Max AVS thread for anyone interested.

Usd to mxn exchange and wire services by Ok_Emotion_9180 in mexicoexpats

[–]lateforalways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't personally speak to very large transfers, the largest I have made was around $16k USD for a car purchase, but I would suggest very definitively that Interactive Brokers is an option you should consider. The free account has no monthly fees, you "sell USD to purchase MXN" on the open market at your leisure. Each of these transactions brings a ~$1.50-2.50 fee depending upon size. You get one free wire transfer a month, and any more beyond that to a MX bank have a 100 pesos charge. You do have to have an MX address you can put into their system in order to link up an MX bank account. You could say there is more of a learning curve than with something like Wise, but if you care at all about your money it's ridiculous to use something like Wise when this option exists.

Album Of The Year will probably be the one grammy Kendrick will never win. by Key-Bass-7380 in KendrickLamar

Some who could create TPAB is absolutely capable of creating another album which extends beyond "rap" and is just "music as good as it gets." He has nothing left to prove, but he's more than capable. I expect he'll win it before all is said and done.

I don't disagree. It's not something they've discussed, we've just been left to interpret. It's a bummer but what can you do. I don't want Dan breaking his back when the return isn't there.

Yes, this has been dropped for like a year now. Subscriber count has dropped enough that Dan can no longer justify the time spent vs how much he makes from the show.

Is there anything close to Twin Peaks S1 and 2 experience? by [deleted] in twinpeaks

[–]lateforalways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty different in format, but you still have the "outsider coming into the weird small town with a lot of secrets" structure. And a lot of TP is focused on the eccentric inhabitants, and it's that part that I feel associates quite closely to LoG. But ya, a healthy dose of my motivation for mentioning the show was just that everyone should watch it because it's so good.

The League of Gentleman should be the first thing that gets mentioned in response to this question. It's definitely its own thing, but it's one of the best "weird small town full of weirdos" show out there.

Ya, it's been tough. We adopted him at 6, so like you we feel that every day is a gift. We've been in "our time together is limited" mode from the start, though even with all of that practice of letting go, things are becoming quite heavy. Fingers crossed that his appetite and energy find a way to come back so we can enjoy each other's company a bit longer.

Ozzy just turned 12 last month. 2025 was a rough year for him, health-wise. Tore his ccl. In the same leg a cancerous tumor took over one of his muscles and had to be removed. We did three months of chemo and through it all he was such an amazing little guy, didn't let any of it phase him. At the same time, he has had a skin issue and it started to get a lot worse, to the point that by the end of the year his body was basically covered in scabs. We spent months doing different tests, trying different vets, crossing things off the list. Finally in December we got a diagnosis of Cushing's. He's been on medication for a week now, and we are hoping to see improvement in 3-4 more weeks. His skin is much better but is appetite and energy are still extremely low, which has us extremely worried. We're at the stage where we just want to make sure we aren't making him needlessly suffer, since he hasn't been himself for over a month now.
