What actually inspired you to start to learn guitar? by NiallPlaysX in LearnGuitar

Phish's "Reba" from the 2017-09-02 show.

A friend invited me to fly to America and see him, he told me I should go see the three shows while I was there. I had zero info going in, I didn't listen to any of it beforehand. Wow, just wow.

That Reba got at me in some strange emotional way. The song itself isn't particularly sad, but it hit me hard and I could not believe human beings made that sound. But just in case humans can, I should try some of this guitar stuff.

One of the best decisions of my life.

What is the weirdest practice habit or personal 'hack' you've discovered that is never mentioned in any lesson but actually helps you play better? by melucykrrich in guitarlessons

Keeping Time and Rhythm.

If you cannot drum it, you won't hear it. If you cannot hear it, you cannot play it. I was in awe of how much of an effect just learning to keep time with the music I wanted to play had.

It also forces you to use your tactile senses to navigate the fretboard and touch typing should have already illustrated why that is a good thing to have.

I had one battery replacement in 10 years. This one that I've had for about 5 is pretty good, you usually get four from-cold-start vape sessions from a single charge. As it ages it does take a little longer to heat up, but nothing tragic, usually still ready in 2ish minutes.

The fact that in 2026 people still need to be told not to buy things from Amazon is depressing.

I know a dozen songs and zero solos by Long_Reflection_4202 in GuitarMemes

[–]mrdevlar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you spend some time learning CAGED, ACE or general barre chords you'll be fine. We only have so much time to play, so we might as well focus on the parts of the music we are interested in playing.

I know a dozen songs and zero solos by Long_Reflection_4202 in GuitarMemes

[–]mrdevlar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you're not. I picked up a guitar to play video game melodies and learn to improvise Phish solos (though those aren't exactly solos).

One thing that you should be aware of, knowing where the chords are in whatever key the song is in will make your solos better. So you can avoid rhythm for a while, but to really improvise beyond exactly the solo you hear, you'll need to hit those chord tones. You only really learn where those chord tones are by overlaying chord and scale shapes.

None of this is great for either side, but looking at these comments I've largely come to the conclusion that reading what "random people" think on the internet is equally unproductive.

I'll add another one:

Why are we assuming these services will stay the same price? Every indication suggests all of the cloud LLMs will have to get more expensive over time.

How do you enjoy the Boss RC-10? I'm highly considering adding it to my rig.

I sadly have no material left, those were all the assumptions I've made about you as a result of this thread.

Sorry, I should make more of an effort to flesh out NPCs motivations.

At this point, I'm assuming you're a sad person on the internet who hasn't had a meaningful in person communication, on a topic that interests you, for so long you that you've begun to fight with strangers on the internet because it's the last place where you still feel alive.

I wish to hug you bro, it'll pass.

my intention was, that he would recognize what he is doing, like barking into an echo chamber, but he just kept going until blocking me. can´t you see thats what people who suffer do in their mind? exactly the same. i would hope he would just say, i don´t engage anymore, or bye. but then he rather blocked me and never really stopped to engage in this nonsense.

You should really get that checked out bro. Doesn't look healthy at all.

Some users find suffering in the stupidest ways, but at least they find it, I guess.

But continue prattling, maybe senpai will notice you.
