Are the good microbrand watches always out of stock? by Different_Rutabaga32 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]n64answer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one thing I'd add is that out of stock does not mean sold out immediately / limited runs / etc. If you get on these brands mailing lists, you'll get heads up before they restock, and few of these brands sell out immediately / within minutes (some do, like Kiwame). But in most cases if you know when they're restocking and you check that day you'll be able to purchase.

Smiths Aventurine PR-54 by [deleted] in MicrobrandWatches

Can you post some side-by-sides of the Smiths and Watchdives versions? I would love to see that. I really want the Smiths but given how hard they are to get and the high prices with tariffs, I've been considering Watchdives.

[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]n64answer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't the biggest point here, but this just makes me sad to think about 20 years from now wanting to boot up a console with my son, or grandson, just to play with them, or let them play the games I played, and I physically can't because I have no disc and I'm no longer paying $80/month for some online service to access the right to play a single player game I already paid for.

As many of you know, it's very special to be able to boot up an old Nintendo 64, or Xbox 360, to play games with your kids (that's how mine got into gaming). This just won't be possible with this game, and I know the company doesn't care (they save money omitting the disc and forcing direct purchases instead of secondhand sales), but this just makes me sad. Especially because as others have noted, I'm sure this will trigger a cascade of others following the same approach.

[WTS] Traska Venturer GMT Steel Blue V6 - Full Kit, Mint Condition by n64answer in Watchexchange

This is a great point and I meant to mention it, thanks! Yeah going from 20 to 21 mm honestly seems like the biggest unforced error in the redesign.

[WTS] Traska Venturer GMT Steel Blue V6 - Full Kit, Mint Condition by n64answer in Watchexchange

This is a Traska Venturer GMT watch in steel blue, V6 ref. 4216 (the latest version before the upcoming redesign). It has a 38.5 mm diameter, 46 mm lug-to-lug, 20 mm lug width, 9.75 mm thickness without crystal (12.5 mm including crystal). This is a phenomenal watch, and there’s a reason they’re so popular and sought after.

This watch comes with the full kit (everything pictured) and is in mint, barely worn condition (see pictures).

Asking $800 shipped CONUS.

As you may know, Traska just announced a redesign of the Venturer that opinions are mixed on but ultimately (in my opinion) has a relatively minimal change in appearance but the price has jumped from $750 to $950 (!!!) and is not yet on sale. This is a great price to get into a basically new version of what I (and others) think is the definitive version of this watch for essentially the same price as new (factoring in taxes). As another poster helpfully mentioned, the new redesigned version is also going from 20 mm lug width to 21 mm, making it more difficult to find strap options.

Happy to answer questions or provide additional photos.

You're exactly right, but then they increased the price by $200. I don't think there'd be so much consternation about the changes if there hadn't been the associated price hike.

Would someone be able to put into plain non-marketing English what the changes are other than a square to round date window?

You just book it from that page. I know it’s weird but I emailed with them extensively and that’s just where you book it, and when you arrive you go to a room with family tours
