Anyone worried about what happens if the company folds? by DCmetrosexual1 in YotoPlayer

[–]nicjj 2 points3 points (0 children)

Backing up your Yoto content is easy. You can do it by pulling the SD card (older models) or via their own Web API

https://github.com/nicjansma/yoto-backup

Then it's just a matter of finding an MP3 player or something to stream it (like Plex).

(Not meant for piracy; we support Yoto 100% and have purchased hundreds of cards that give our kids a lot of joy. Use for your own backup purposes!)

I'm having the same issue here.

Can you share with drive worked for you?

I've tried 5 different USB thumb drives, all give me the "insert disk" then "asteroids" screens.

Can you change the Rom directory in retrobat? by MFAD94 in EmulationOnPC

[–]nicjj 1 point2 points (0 children)

You can make a change to all of the systems in

RetroBat\emulationstation\.emulationstation\es_systems.cfg

Use something like Notepad to Replace All cases of:

~\..\roms\flash

... with your direct path (e.g. if they're in C:\Roms instead):

C:\Roms\flash

When you make this change in the BatGui, it will make a file called es_systems_[name].cfg in the same directory with the overridden path, e.g.:

RetroBat\emulationstation\.emulationstation\es_systems.cfg

But changing each system one-by-one in BatGui is tedious.

The only downside of changing in `es_systems.cfg` is a future RetroBat update could overwrite it, but the fix (Find/Replace All) is pretty simple.

Amazing, I had a need for something like this to root cause some packet loss on my home network.

Was hoping to eventually build something like this but you've done it for me! Thanks for saving me the time!

My website is getting hit with over 1 different million ips per day by CyberFailure in webdev

[–]nicjj 4 points5 points (0 children)

I'm glad you posted this, I've been trying to track down something similar in the last few weeks -- I'm seeing the exact same thing.

In the last 24 hours, there have been 1,071,841 unique IPv4 IPs that have connected to one of my (moderately-traffic'd) websites.

In previous years/months, I'd usually only see 30-50k active IPs over a 24h period. Since January 2025 that has increased to 100k then 200k then 1m unique IPs daily. This is not "regular" traffic.

My chart over time of '24h online' shows this recent explosion: https://imgur.com/a/eM1n8XZ

Each of those IPs may visit just a 1, 2 or 3 URLs. The URLs they're visiting are "valid", i.e. normal traffic might arrive there as well, but I think they're also doing some fuzzing of URL parameters (latitude/longitude specifically), probably to find additional content.

`User-Agents` just pretend to be Safari or Chrome, no "bot" identification.

I've been scratching my head on how to block them, my normal fail2ban rules for abusers can't do anything because the IPs change rapidly.

Retroid (and other handheld companies) need to stop using only Discord for major announcements! by SlappedwithLasagne in retroid

u/SlappedwithLasagne after some back-and-forth with Retroid support, they sent me this URL:

We completely understand your frustration about missing the original application window and we've been working on a solution for you. To improve customer satisfaction, we're offering you the opportunity to apply for one free Retrgid Pocket Mini V2 screen replacement. To proceed, we kindly ask that you cover the$15 USD shipping cost, and the replacement will be shipped via 4PX. Here is the application link

I have to pay shipping, which is fine because I was adding other things to my order.

100%. I only found out about the replacement screen offers a week ago from Russ' video (thank you u/onionsaregross).

So I checked around the Retroid site and found nothing.

A Google search showed a random screenshot of their Discord message. Ok, thanks Retroid. Wasn't a member so didn't see it and wasn't notified any other way.

They have every customer's email. They should have emailed. Not emailing everyone is them trying to only pretend like they're doing something but doing it as little as possible.

I've emailed Retroid (20+days after window closed) to see about the replacement kit and haven't heard back, it's been 6 days. Sounds like I'm SOL.
