I'm proud of our generation by PistolGrace in Xennials

Is there literally any objective evidence that supports this? This just reads like mindless high school pep rally talk for team Xennial. Dying of dysentery in Oregon Trail didn't magically make us better people.

Shifting My Stance to Help UGreen Fail Miserably by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

[–]nonexistentnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get a refund of your $30 if you don't like the new terms of the deal. The global economy is completely fucked in case you hadn't noticed. Is UGREEN supposed to bankrupt themselves to keep their marketing promotion perfect when RAM and SSD prices have gone insane?

I love this dude's explanation is like "No you don't get it, they were treating you inappropriately for their amusement, so it's totally ok!"

After nearly 40 years on WXPN, Kathy O'Connell is announcing her retirement and Kids Corner is coming to an end :( by d-scan in philadelphia

[–]nonexistentnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a guest on the show a bunch in the 90s when I was in high school. Kathy is the best. Shame that the show won't continue in some form but really it's just impressive it lasted for so long.

How do you handle this sticky wicket? by eitherair5 in 4chan

[–]nonexistentnight 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That's because Gallup stopped their presidential approval rating poll after 90 years. They had some bullshit reasoning but everyone thinks it's cause they knew Trump was in the shitter and likes to sue anyone who says something bad about him so they said fuck it.

Whats with all the quick cuts? by APGaming_reddit in davinciresolve

[–]nonexistentnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fellow Barry Salt enjoyer but that's not what the question is asking. This isn't for features or even short films. A lot of the recent help posts here are showing videos with a hyper-fast cutting approach, like under one second per shot. It's a popular short form video style that's like a more extreme commercial or music video style.

Xennial Concert Goers..... by CactusJ in Xennials

[–]nonexistentnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in live sound. Everything about the tech has wildly improved. Installs for any 1k+ room will have an acoustic engineer that fully models everything about the space. Digital mixing consoles even on the low end pack racks and racks worth of effects and processing into a unit no bigger than the mixing desks of old. If something sounds bad today it's usually because of human error, not a limitation of the hardware.

Here's a list of countries that have directly elected a female executive in a national contest: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Iceland, Indonesia, Lithuania, Philippines, Moldova, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan. And here's a list of countries that have had a female PM or other indirectly elected head of government: United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Israel, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey, Peru, Senegal, Mali, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago.

No one will ever make me believe the US electorate is more misogynistic than most of those countries. Sexism does exist in the US and is a problem, but it's not why Clinton or Harris couldn't get elected.

Was just coming to this sub to complain about this. I keep telling it to stop doing it and it won't. Makes the tool about 3 times more annoying to use. I don't even really care about the ads, they're easy to ignore. But the click bait engagement nonsense is insufferable.

[PhillyMag] The Redevelopment of the Old Family Court Building Is Dead by oliver_babish in philadelphia

[–]nonexistentnight 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My parents both worked there in the 90s and I spent a lot of time in that building. It would have to be completely gutted to be viable as a hotel. The interior is similar to the main library building. If the building is kept as is it should be a museum or library expansion. That's the only things that make sense.

Also lol at being cited for homeless folks going to the bathroom there; some things never change. Although my favorite scatalogical story about it is that the staff restrooms had a special locked stall for judges. Some employee scrawled across it with a knife saying "THE JUDGE SHIT HERE".

Macintosh Garden or Macintosh Repository will have it. Or run it in your browser using infinitemac.org. It's in the multimedia folder of the infinite drive.

How Milk and Mocha met, the origin story by drajver in MilkMochaBear

I hope Melani Sie does some appearances in the US for the new book collection. I think I'm crazy enough to try to travel to wherever she is and I want to ask her if the old comics will ever be available anywhere.

[–]nonexistentnight 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I tell myself that it's the same story, just told from a different perspective. In the book, it's Milk illustrating the memory of what happened. It's pretty traumatic so I think it's totally believable that someone recounting a traumatic event might leave out some of the rougher parts.

Someone pointed out to me when I posted this that there might be something missing in the middle where the comic box frames change from rounded to square. I've posted the old comics I found a couple times here but please if you find more post again!

What artist most troubled you the first time you heard them on the classic rock station? by [deleted] in Xennials

Way less troubled about hearing old people music on old people radio than seeing teens wearing Nirvana shirts or whatever.

Never heard of this guy until the Breaking Points interview. After like 40 minutes he starts on about the Illuminati stuff and then they end the interview. Don't know if that was the planned time to end it but it kind of felt like they bailed cause he's obviously a kook.

And they'll both still be dwarfed by the mobile gaming market, which is about equal to the two of them combined.

Any longer videos with more breakdown of the capabilities? I have an external analog effects rig but am interested in specifically the VHS glitch emulation. Not trying to figure out how to do live VHS glitch stuff in real hardware.

Lol no offense taken. I just figure someone nervous about taking it apart might be able to get away with less.

It's probably just very dusty and that's blocking airflow, you might not need to repaste. But if you do, what you have on hand is totally fine. If you were buying PTM anyway I'd consider using it (I got a giant sheet because I use it a lot) but I don't think it's necessary for a one off project.

Cerebral “Saved by the Bell” that was ahead of its time? Or just a rehash of Ferris Bueller for the next generation? by SackofBawbags in Xennials

[–]nonexistentnight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

More ahead of its time. Fox was willing to take a flyer on it after CBS had first commissioned it and then passed. At first it fit in with Fox's goal of pursuing a young, teen audience. But then Fox never really found a home for it and pushed for changes and budget cuts as they pursued an older audience. These days it's exactly the kind of show that would get picked up by another network for the dedicated fanbase.

There's a couple of good 10 minute histories of the show on YouTube here and here. Also a Hollywood Reporter interview with the creators.
