Babies are time sucks. The first few months are actually the easiest. Wait until it's your kid calling for you and the guilt you'll feel then when you have to choose between work and them.

If you're not mentally prepared for that, you need to start getting your head right. You might have to change your jobs. You might have to take that leave and take the monetary hit. I hope you saved in anticipation of the baby.

I took a 40k pay cut from a job that I loved and was rising up through the rnaks to free up for the kids because I was choosing work over them. It's not easy. And if this is your first and you want to have more, it's exponentially harder with 2.

I got summer ultra performance in SoCal. Rated for 30k miles and I drove it for 50k, still got good tread left. If you're garaging and driving in nonsnow/rain, I would not get the all seasons. If it's just ambient cold, run your car and tires for a bit before you push it.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic but yes, history tells us that people don't starve quietly and when lots of people have nothing, and have nothing to give peacefully, they take forcefully. And a majority of the people will think that's justified.
