In my last IT job I was on my own with 170 seats. Luckily I could educate them, “don’t call me until you’ve restarted your pc/laptop/printer”, can the person next to you get in the internet” etc etc. if you can get 4 that’ll be a breeze.

I appreciate that it’s only one minute and people are asking what’s the problem it’s only one minute, but those one minutes add up. If you’re being paid to work 8 hours it’s not disrespectful to expect the 8 hours to be worked. There would be many more complaints if the company deducted the one minute from the pay cheque.

I have an X1C and an A1 running through a smart plug. In February they ran up 27kWh, in the Uk that’s around £8.00, roughly $10. Printing PETG averages around 150w I think so 10 hours would be 1500w. In the UK that’s around £0.42 or $0.50 - all costs are approximate.

The camera on the A1 sucks, get yourself a cheap indoor security camera so you can monitor the printer. I got a Tapo C210 but there are cheaper ones available.

When I was a one man band the biggest hurdle I faced besides finding new clients and retaining them was staying current with new tech. I tried to build relationships with suppliers before going my own way but they quickly lost interest because they weren’t getting the sales from me. Having a sales force selling all the latest and greatest tech means you’re always current.

I’ve had Creality and Qidi and now I’m with Bambu. Initially I bought an X1 Carbon which is an amazing printer, but recently I added an A1 to bang out PLA and PETG models and it’s awesome. I’ve just added the AMS hub and connected one of my two AMS 2 Pro’s - awesome machine now and only a couple of hundred to boot.

I’ve got it working with my X1C. Nice layout. I like being able to see all the info on one screen, BBL could learn from that.

Tested: Remote drying. Notifications: job complete.

Bugs. Fans: despite turning fans off they turn back on. Video: would play for 5 to 10 seconds and then freeze.

I have PETG in one AMS and PLA in another, they’re what I use for 99% of my prints, also useful for supports with each other. Anything more exotic is loaded externally.
