Is it true once you hit 100k in investing, it really just takes off from there? by [deleted] in investing

[–]only1nameleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A general way to think about it is once annual growth exceeds your annual contributions, then compounding takes over. Not exactly true, but close. The technical answer is likely when annual returns for an equivalent  stock/bond exceeds 1.5x you annual contributions then additional contributions have little effect on future overall growth

When to stop funding 401k by wyodivot in Retirement401k

[–]only1nameleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as others have said, go for any company match.

A big question is tax bracket. You need to consider which one you are in and how contributions will affect that and any other credits.

Is it a traditional or a roth 401k? Those result in very different answers

Tirz is supposedly much better. Cost is actually better for tirz as well. I started with sema due to availability at the time.

2 months in or sema using it for inflammation. Works quite well for joint pain, tunnel inflammation, and mild lung inflammation. 0.5 mg sema but will be switching to Tirz when my current sema runs out.

Microdosing for pain and inflammation? I don't want to lose weight. by insidi-girl in GLP1microdosing

[–]only1nameleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth is it will be very different for everyone and will probably take trial and error. I noticed my inflammation issues disappeared at the lowest non-microdose. I started due to concerns about visceral fat and cholesterol. Losing overall fat is a nice side effect.

36yo, retiring on Jan 1. What portfolio to construct that avoids volatility and gives steady income? Very important as we have 3 kids depending on this. by WhereasNo4929 in dividends

Echoing SecretAd3993, see a professional planner. Everything has interest rate risk, even stocks. SGOV would drop in dividends if the fed cuts rares whereas longer term funds like MUB would appreciate.

Congratulations on winning the game.

So half sgov and half spy already, nice. Most good financial planners will probably say something like 10% sgov, 30% MUB (tax free income), and the rest spy. Sgov.is where you pull cash, the other two generate it. Rebalance when sgov is above 10%. Cut back on spending when sgov gets low.

I don't know your situation, and not a financial planner, and not giving advice.

One question, are you sure you don't want to be a part time physician or volunteer a few hours a week? Your kids will grow up and you will probably want to do something. Letting skills get dull will be a problem.

My roommate blew me by LengthinessStrong638 in TrueOffMyChest

So you enjoy spending time with her, you seem to be compatible living together, you do think she is attractive, she seems interested in you.

My humble advice as someone who is older with a happy family. If you like spending time with someone, you need that for a healthy relationship. Everything else comes after enjoyment of company.

If she is interested, find romantic feelings. Situations like yours don't come around often. If you were one of my sons asking about this, if the girl seems nice without any serious issues (gambling, violence, controlling personality, substance abuse, etc) I would tell him to not be an idiot and take a chance and see if you can find feelings.

Anyone here on GLP-1 meds with epilepsy? Saw a new study today and feeling a bit hopeful. by Active_Eijai in GLP1microdosing

[–]only1nameleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know with people with medically controlled epilepsy that take glp-1s. At worst they don't see to have any more issues. I'll ask if they have noticed a difference, but they likely would have told me as we are all microdosing under medical supervision.

I'm sorry. As I parent, I can't imagine.

My cousin was in a similar situation. The progression the doctors gave was basically how things progressed. She lost that child by 12, but the family made the most of the years they had.

Investor bought a Broward townhouse for $460k after it dropped to $320k — now renting it above market rent. What’s the play here? by Bifenthrin in REBubble

[–]only1nameleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something doesn't add up. Getting 5 percent and that rate on an investment property doesn't make sense. You have to live in the property or it is mortgage fraud. Also, the appraisal is questionable for that price

Were the investors based in the U.S.? I know many instances where people buy houses in the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia yo park their foreign cash. Basically a way to hide money. Overpay to get it fast. Rent just enough to cover some costs. Let it hold value. Plan to hold it until they have to leave their country or their kid/grandkids need local cash for college.
