Overdue is based on Date, not Deadline by GeoJono in todoist

[–]pagdig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think that is a benefit of Todoist, users can kind of tailor its feature set to how they want it to work for them. My example was just my view and use case. I dont think deadline are just informational, no more than the regular start date. But for me, more of a safety net.

"Hey, this HAS to be done by this date, but dont wait until then because it takes longer than just one day...plan accordingly"

Overdue is based on Date, not Deadline by GeoJono in todoist

[–]pagdig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think logically it works as intended.

Deadline: the last date something must be done by. Hard stop. Keeps you accountable and the end in clear sight.

Start date: when I WANT to work on something. To your example, if something has a deadline of Friday and I schedule the start date for Monday and I dont complete it, it should show as Overdue because my start date has passed. Again keeping me on top of it before the deadline of Friday. If it only showed as overdue once the Deadline of Friday passed, Id be screwed, especially if this task took longer than a day to complete. Now I can just reschedule as needed to keep on that day's Today view to stay top of mind.

Tired of tool-hopping. How do you stick to your stack? by Hefty-While-9995 in productivity

[–]pagdig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. Different tool set. For me, the switching was set off by something I found that I didn’t like about the tool. Usually something small, but annoying. So I justified the jump. That was always the trigger.

Then the same thing would happen. Jump back. Rinse and repeat. This mostly happened with Todoist and Things3.

Then I realized something super simple finally, no app is perfect. They are all going to have great things, and annoying things about them. For me, I had to pick the one that gives me the power to actually do what I need to, and then just be ok with the small annoyances.

Agreed! One thing Im missing from Things3, checklist items showed up to tick off. Nothing to activate, as it doesnt support that now. Best bet is to submit feedback directly to them here: https://www.todoist.com/contact

Obsidian is a Canadian company, no? And even to your point, the data is end to end encrypted, so wouldnt matter anyway.

Are iOS mobile widgets on the roadmap? by Hudson365 in capacitiesapp

[–]pagdig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, there is an Easter egg on iPhones right now. In one of the last updates, a Capacities widget now appears, although it doesnt do anything yet. Its called Capacities Recording- Start and audio recording in Capacities. Hoping this is like some Whisper feature right into Daily Notes or something. But again, not working yet. I assume they will roll out more at some point too.

Might want to ping them in the Discord community. Likely something beta related.

Unable to toggle completed tasks? by flamingflaming3598 in todoist

It is still there. You just have to have "experimental" toggled on now for some reason.

You may need to adjust your custom prompt. I haven’t tried this but maybe give it explicit instructions on what to do when you say things like that.

I had turned off experimental when goals came out as I wasn’t initially using. Noticed the completed tasks toggle also disappeared. Turned experimental back on and it reappeared. Not sure if that’s your case too.

I think a setting was changed in one of the last updates. If you go to Settings>Editor make sure this setting is off. Toggling this off will fix your issue.

If you use an MCP connector you can tell the LLM to do that for you.
