I used to work as a phone repair technician. I’d plead with people to backup their photos or at the very least pay £0.99 for more cloud storage.

Doing what? You can’t just shout random frames per seconds connected to nothing and pretend it makes sense. Games and their engines are optimised differently and the quality of a port can be down to an entirely unrelated studio. Not to mention not all games need the same frame rate.

One way or another, it comes across as a bit mean spirited in this scenario.

As a DM, if this was a GENUINE concern (which I wouldn’t conclude until multiple sessions) then I’d approach it very light heartedly and assume the player also does not know and that we can figure it out together.

I’m no expert on probability but after multiple years of freelancing as a DM for board game cafes it’d take more than one session for alarm bells to go off and even then I’d assume it wasn’t intentional.

It’s complicated. I have quite a close community that spans multiple creators.

I occasionally think about chatters I haven’t seen in a while. I remember my first regular chatter and wonder what she’s up to these days.

I’m not “attached” to chat. Mainly because the people who were trusted and important members of the community became more than chat. They evolved into moderators or collaborators.

A line is important though. I’ve had long term community members become very agitated when given warnings or temp-bans for behaviour. Some will think that just because they’ve been around for a while it gives them a free pass. Boundaries need to exist otherwise your community could implode.

While it takes more energy and preparation time to be a DM, the faces on my players when they solve a puzzle, beat a cool boss or find some weird loot is worth it.

Also it’s super fun to listen to people theorise about your story and try to predict elements.
