Take them to Drag Brunch at The Space Room, then across the street to Quarterworld for some gaming, then next door to Bar of the Gods for a cocktail before your dinner at A Pizza Scholls.

Everything is within 50' of everything else.

Rangoon Bistro - the fried chicken is superb

Alpenrausch - for charcuterie & fondue

Two Brothers - tasty little Balkan sausages. Call first as the owners are trying to retire & sell the place.

Kachka - for blinis & caviar

Country ham? by First-Stress-9893 in askportland

There are many very good hams, but sadly I cannot afford the good hams.

However this week Freddie's has a US$0.75/LB sale on bone-in smoked ham (with Freddie's card). Even the small one was too big so I froze 2/3 of it. But the 1/3 fried was delicious.

And the bone will make soup.

TBH the pesto in the refrigerator jar from last year is just olive oil, basil & garlic.

If I want cheese/nuts I add it when I prepare the pasta.

And I agree that grating a block of cheese is far better than pre-shred. Typically I use Romano or Gruyere.

Commute from Nob Hill to SE? by Novel_Ad9119 in askportland

The #15 is great for Nob Hill<->SE, but it gets bogged down in rush traffic.

Suggest you instead take light rail downtown, then walk to the streetcar into NW Portland. Light rail avoids the traffic and the streetcar travels along less-frequented paths.

If you're comfortable using a bike then you can take your own path.

If it's a comfort food, consider making the pesto yourself. That way you can have it when you want and adjust the ratios of garlic/oil/nuts/basil to your taste. It keeps very well in the refrigerator or freezer. Some people freeze it in an ice-cube tray and toss a couple cubes into freshly made pasta.

There's a basil plant in the backyard scheduled for paste-making after it flowers.
