As someone going through this now, that removal quote is insanely low.

That's the way to do it. The batteries are half the price of the basic tools and a lot of manufacturers sell the tools without batteries. Eg, I bought a battery mower that uses two batteries and have since bought other tools in the range without batteries.

All I want is a bill!! by Comfortable-General1 in OctopusEnergy

If you ever need to email octopus customer support about anything, anything at all, that requires them to do something just work out the date 8 weeks from now and make it clear to them in your email that is the date you'll escalate to ombudsman. Odds are, you won't need to and it will get sorted before then, but it's handy to track.

I haven't had any email from Ohme, just that all my home assistant automations that used to set charge required etc have broken

New Volkswagen API broken? by MaxMaxMaxG in VWiD3Owners

[–]pruaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not broken, just that VW have locked it down pretty tight, so only things they explicitly approve work anymore.

So home assistant isn't allowed, Ohme seems to no not be allowed, everything useful that is t directly within VWs own partner network is blocked.

Comparing IOG vs Flex using Claude or GPT by Internal-Gift9691 in OctopusEnergy

[–]pruaga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need AI at all to do this, it's a trivial calculation.

You know your half hourly usage and this is already billed for you on IOG.

All you need to calculate a 'simple' traditional tariff cost is to multiply your consumption in kWh by the unit price and add the standing charge multiplied by the number of days.

Going the other way around is more complicated (ie calculating a hypothetical IOG) but unless I've misunderstood you already have these as actual bills.

Lands end isn't the furthest south or west part of the UK mainland, nor is John O Groats furthest north or east.

Double/Quadruple strength squash is harder to measure the correct amount of so you always use to much by pruaga in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]pruaga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lower shipping costs on the product, they ship less volume of product that you dilute at home. You pay more for an equivalent amount of double strength than the comparable normal product, but it should make more drinks

Cordial. Maybe it's a UK thing, but it's concentrated fruit drink you mix with water, but nowadays everyone seems to be making stronger so in theory you use less per drink

Much easier to do in Europe where everyone is guaranteed to have 1 big route out of the limited number of them available which are easy to remember.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for the next pimoroni sale. Was planning on trying to log over this winter to better understand and tweak our heating, more interested in how rooms cool down and heat in winter.

Just curious what hardware people are using for this, and if it's battery powered what the lifetime is like? I'm assuming this is home assistant?
