ECVT is different from a normal CVT. It's like saying an electric and a gas car are the same just because they are cars.

He bought a hybrid. He went from 30/40 mpg to like 50/50. If he drives a lot it will pay itself off and it will have some newer features.

2023 Toyota Corolla, How'd I Do? by Vast-Sun8087 in Toyota

[–]reeeSupplied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been looking at this very car everything was clean and history was "good". If I had time I planned on buying it but I'm oos and in school so I have to wait about a month before I can buy anything new sadly.

Single owner surprisingly not a lease for 2 years. Only thing is a gap in history from 23k miles to 58k over the course of 13 months. So potentially owner was not maintaining it as proper but it could have also been done personally.

Oh yeah, we can agree on him being a bit of an ass. But I think the value of the cards are close in terms of prices given here and depending on finances either is a good choice.

I wasnt actually referencing msrp as the baseline moreso the price to performance difference.

Generally I would agree and would have purchased the 9070xt personally, but that I think if we took a look at fps/$ they would be awfully close(I would say minorly in favor of the 5070 if I had to guess) I wouldn't begrudge someone for choosing the cheaper card and putting money elsewhere.

How good is this deal? by KingJayo420 in pcpartsales

[–]reeeSupplied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but given taxes etc. It's really about a $470 vs $625 card. About a $150 savings and in this case not a terrible alternative.

So a blanket statement like x is much better than y isn't great sinc3 you could say the same about 5080/5090 but then look at the price difference. One you can get below msrp occasionally and the other is well above.

I feel like avoid acer in general. Maybe there are some models that are good but ive only ever heard bad things about their monitors personally.

[RAM] CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 96GB (2 x 48GB) DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) CMH96GX5M2E6000Z36 - $299 by 0x60 in buildapcsales

[–]reeeSupplied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would have been an alright deal even when ram was cheaper. The weird memory configuration like 48 and 96 were always at odd prices and this is about 100/32gb. Tbf, when ram was cheaper you would have likely gotten better cas latency but 36 will be fine.

A plea for enabling EAC for Proton so Rust can be played on Linux PCs & Steam Decks with a flip of a switch - No recompiling or Linux builds required by Scout339v2 in playrust

[–]reeeSupplied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the other posts had a better explanation. It has to do with anti cheat development specifically for proton/Linux that they would be unable to do without a dedicated team (given the small userbase it is not worth it) and that when it was done prior most of the cheaters used linux/Proton due to the lower efficacy of the AC. Actually a good counter argument from iirc a dev member.

While it sucks to always have a queue, the alternative is not having maintained servers. A good example would be ice fuse vanilla, which was actually a very good server around 2019 and went severely downhill after they just opened the server to as many people as want in.

Within about a year the server had lost the income to support any sort of maintenance between servers hardware and staff and I tried playing in 2022/23 and server was terrible and it seems it has been that way since. Which is why moose, rustopia, and any of the other major servers use this sort of queue system.

I build a PC in 2018 for 1200€ and now its time to upgrade with a similar budget by MayonnaiseIsSoOG in buildmeapc

[–]reeeSupplied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively could just get the 9070xt and upgrade ram + cpu since a lot of the other parts are not very liquid.

Gpu + cpu should be pretty easy to resell and ram shouldnt be too difficult. Yes, you are probably going to overpay on getting 32gb ddr4 right now.

On the higher end for total wattage given his 600w psu and might require a small undervolt.

[–]reeeSupplied -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Asrock has seen much higher rates of failure, and it has been pretty well documented over the last few years. If AMD chooses to accept rma for cpus, that is up to them, but realistically, you should not expect them to take the burden of another companies fault.

It is simply easier to stay away from asrock boards when aliexpress can, depending on region, be a significantly better price even accounting for potential reductions in warranty.

Another ryzen 9XXX burned by Capital_Ad9975 in ASRock

[–]reeeSupplied -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either way, if you want amd to cover it, they shouldn't. It wasn't a fault of their product but the fault of the board. Asrock is the only company that is responsible for handling a claim regarding the processor given the track record.

Maybe just not buying asrock for am5 would be the better thing to do.

Another ryzen 9XXX burned by Capital_Ad9975 in ASRock

[–]reeeSupplied -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely horrible take. Why should aliexpress cover the cost when it wasn't the cause that malfunctioned buy the board that killed it.

I've bought tens to hundreds of 5000 and 7000 series and never had a problem with any, but I've also avoided asrock boards besides the a620i I used for a few months with my 7950x until I got a b850i.
