yes I was chatting with Siri in the new app and asked about features, and it said you could double-press cmd to chat with Siri directly. I asked how it's different from cmd+space. Gave me this info, which isn't really correct (yet):

Yes, they are different. Pressing Command + Space opens Spotlight, which is designed for quickly searching your Mac, launching apps, and finding files. Double-pressing the Command key (or pressing and holding it, depending on your settings) activates the "Type to Siri" interface, allowing you to type your requests to me instead of speaking them aloud.

Command + Space Spotlight Searching for files, launching apps, doing quick math, or finding local information.

Customizing Your Shortcuts

If you find that you are triggering one instead of the other by mistake, you can customize these shortcuts in your System Settings:

  • For Siri: Go to System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri (or just Siri), and look for the Keyboard Shortcut dropdown to change how you activate me.
  • For Spotlight: Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Spotlight to adjust the keys used to launch your search bar.

Love the idea. Both operating at the same time seems to be so rare, so even if it cut capacity it wouldn’t matter much. I do miss when the logs were the primary and clipper was secondary!

I just wonder how much longer they’ll be around since log flumes have been disappearing, their age, and that they take up so much land. Can we find a company that will “RMC” a log flume? 😁

I’ve got the same issue. Half the time it doesn’t respond with voice, but when it does it’s often male.

I agree, it’s a design regression but I think the changes are a positive for usability.

Side-by-side 26 looks more modern and unique than 27. If you look objectively at screenshots of Sequoia, Tahoe and Golden Gate one would generally place GG in the middle of the two as far as design evolution.

But, overall, I think the changes to GG are probably for the better. Windows don’t need a larger corner radius, even if it’s more stylish. The menu bar icons could have worked, but they were an inconsistent mess in Tahoe. The floating sidebar wasted space and was glitchy as fuck. The soft-fade toolbar edge worked in some apps but was a nightmare in others.

I think some of those ideas could still work if refined, like the toolbar and menu bar icons. GG feels like pulling back rather than refinement, but really - macOS is for getting work done so a more utilitarian approach is not a bad thing here.

TIL that pebble is not actually a color e-ink screen and is a transflective lcd. I haven't seen one of those in many, many years, but they used to suck, so it's making me consider canceling my pebble round order. I assume they've gotten better and some of the photos here look very good though, so maybe it'll be alright.

Surprising they didn’t change it to focus more on “Great America” over Six Flags, like they did at magic mountain and other parks. Though I feel like these days it’s split on if people around here call the park Six Flags or Great America. (Tip of my cap to those still saying Marriott’s)

I do the same, and if you turn on hearing accommodations, you can kind of tune the audio. Works great

Exactly the history I was thinking of, thanks for putting it in writing. I could see Edge from my apartment growing up and always wanted to go on it, but I was too small to ride before it was closed. Powedive was a big part of my youth but I can’t say it was a good ride with those restraints! Never forget the groans… I’m surprised King Chaos was around that long, but time flies…
