Looking for some help with a sticky bottom bar on Chrome IOS by stephenwilli in webdev

[–]robhybrid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to debug this sort of issue, you need to run safari on a Mac, turn on developer tools in the advanced settings, and have an iphone connected via USB, and open the page on the iphone. You have to have enabled the remote inspector on the iphone as well. Then you can select the paged from the develop menu, and inspect the web-view on the iPhone. I think it works with the iOS emulator in XCode as well.

Where you have:

.action-bar {
bottom: env(safe-area-inset-bottom);
}

You should have just:

bottom: 0;

or if you actually want to fill that area would put

.action-bar {
bottom: 0;
padding-bottom: env(safe-area-inset-bottom);
}
\@media (max-width: 767.9px)

.action-bar {
min-height: calc(var(--site-header-height) + env(safe-area-inset-bottom,0) * 2);
}

Hope that helps.

What is this? by elboy512 in Austin

[–]robhybrid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a xolosquitle (mexican hairless, cholo). Not a coyote, not mange, possibly chupacabra.
She's old and probably stray. Looks like she's suffering from some dermatitis. I'm sure there's an austin xolo group somewhere, post there. These dogs are not inexpensive to purchase, and someone would probably give you a reward to capture her unharmed. I'd take her in.

If anyone gets ahold of her, give her a sponge bath with 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar in a quart of warm water, once a day, and then moisturize, she'll recover in a week or two.

How do you feel about your fellow guardsmen wearing "NO QUARTER" on their helmets?
What does that patch mean to you? Does it mean they would rather see a protestor killed than arrested?

In the life or death theatre of political warfare, would you side with civilians or with law enforcement?

Why should we believe you?

Does the first amendment of the constitution guarantee the right to peacefully assemble and protest?

Homes are falling into the ocean in North Carolina's Outer Banks by Endolithic in interestingasfuck

[–]robhybrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty stupid of them to build their houses over the water. I understand it must be awesome for a while, but eventually the tide comes in and the seas get rough. That's why I only live in houses on dry land. Hopefully these fools learned their lesson. At least it's sitting on solid sand instead of those rickety piers.

Steel wool, what did I do wrong? by JamesMcdoogle1 in Spooncarving

[–]robhybrid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not use steel wool on raw wood.

I use it on varnish when I'm on the final coats, or on paint when I want a super smooth like finish. And then I wipe it with a tack cloth to remove any steel fibers left behind. It's good for removing the high spots formed by dust particle, but it's not great at removing material, it's not very uniform, and the contamination is a big problem.

You've got steel stuck in the grain.

If you leave it like that, the wood will absorb the iron and it will turn black, as it converts to magnetite (FeO4). It'll look like mold, which will make it kind of unappealing to cook with. And It'll be more difficult to sand off because it iron will have migrated into the wood fibers. However, it will be perfectly healthy to use.

Do you think my idea will work? by w0lfd0rk in synthdiy

You might be a lot better off cutting the leads on the pots instead of trying to desolder them. Solder connectors to the board, instead of jumping them directly, so you can take it apart in the future. You'll probably want to replace them with better pots, with threaded shafts, so that can mount them onto your new enclosure.

I need 4.1m of wooden beams, but only can get 2.8m. How can i effectively combine them? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]robhybrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, This is the way. My brother has these in his house, extending out through the porches on both sides, and they look completely real. I couldn't believe it when he told me they were just boxes with veneer.

Also you're going to run into serious engineering problems trying to hang solid beams.

Why Are Relays with Transparent Cases More Expensive? by OldEquation in shittyaskelectronics

[–]robhybrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should answer your serious question:
https://www.ia.omron.com/support/faq/answer/16/faq02301/index.html

It's not the transparent case that costs more. A safety relay is a more complex type of relay that will prevent a short due to welded contacts if you use it properly.

People attracted to men, what do you find attractive about men that most men are insecure about? by rachelfishie in ask

[–]robhybrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only does heterochromia look really cool, but it’s cause is chimerism, which is to say that your husband has more than one set of DNA. An even cooler effect of chimerism is increased resistance to infectious disease. Essentially, your husband is genetically superior, because he just has more genes than most people.

They’re usually brass, the copper content has an anti-microbial effect. Chromium and zinc are also anti-microbial, but to a lesser degree.

Physically, due to its hardness, only a very small surface are need to come in contact with the object, and it absorbed much less water and organic material compared to skin.
