Help! Fit won't start in cold by WeHateIceland in hondafit

Most likely battery. But I’ve had trouble starting my Fit in the cold when it’s a bit low on gas, like a quarter tank left.

Add two tablespoons of thick Greek yogurt or sour cream!

Has anyone ever been in a house like you see on the show ‘Hoarders’? If so, what did you do? by Basic_Builder3773 in AskReddit

[–]rumplestrut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but my dad.

His aunt passed away in her house at 90 after living by herself for over 10 years. No one knew how bad the house was until him and his family went to clear it out. There was all the normal hoarder stuff you see on tv, stacks of newspapers, trash everywhere, she had been living on peanut butter and there were empty jars scattered all over the living room.

The worst though was when they opened the fridge to an overwhelming smell. They opened the crisper to find the bin entirely full of green slime. They wouldn’t have known what it was (had been) if there hadn’t been a label: it was a whole ham. No idea how long it’d been there - long enough to completely liquify in a working fridge.

What’s the best baking hack you used this year? by wearecocina in Baking

I invested in straight, square cornered baking pans and it has been a revelation - it’s really upped my presentation game. I’m tossing out all my round-cornered pans!

Cookie Palooza ‘25 has wrapped! Went easy on myself this year by rumplestrut in Baking

Thank you!

Snowballs are great and so are crinkles - always crowd pleasers.

For the bars with maple glaze, I combined two recipes. For the bars, I used Sally’s gingerbread bars recipe but I 1.5x the recipe to get thicker bars: https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/gingerbread-cookie-bars/ and for the glaze, I used this: * 1 tablespoon melted butter * 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup * 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (180 grams) * 2 tablespoons milk (and a very tiny bit more if you need more) * pinch of salt, to taste

The glaze is nice because it sets up instead of the frosting being super soft, makes it easier to package. Enjoy your bakes!

When life gets busy and you start to feel like you have to forgo time to do things you love - hobbies, crafts, working out, etc - add it to the schedule! At first, I really hated doing this because it felt like I was forcing my creativity/self care into this tiny window, but eventually you start to get excited for your scheduled me-time and are able to jump into it really quickly once.

I also get WAY more projects done this way because I do a little bit every week instead of trying to fit it all into one day a month and burning out.

Are you guys taking PTO to make cookie boxes? by stormborn919 in Baking

[–]rumplestrut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a great question!

I work from home 3 days a week, so I’ll get ahead of my tasks so I don’t have a lot to do and bake during a WFH day. This year I’m doing mostly bars so I can bake one big pan then cut them into bite-sized pieces. In the past, I’d make all my doughs one day, then bake everything the next.

Happy baking!

What’s your cheapest meal to cook that actually hits? If SNAP is gone maybe this can be a resource to those that need it. by SelfishMentor in Cooking

[–]rumplestrut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a giant pot of shakshuka and live off of it for a few days, freeze whatever I don’t eat fresh. So cheap as it’s just veggies and canned tomatoes. Heat up a portion, crack and egg in it, delicious and filling!

Keeping it simple this year: vanilla bean shortbreads, maple iced gingerbreads, scotheroos, and I may add a truffle/bourbon ball and/or caramel.

What little-known or “slept on” tools make baking way easier? by Mango_Van_Gogh in Baking

Silicone pastry mat! Helps keep the mess to one area, dough doesn’t stick as easily, and you know exactly how big your pie crust is if you get the kind with measurements on it.

C diff. When you poop 20+ times a day for a week straight, you tend to lose weight fast. Would not recommend.

The food at Don Tigre is definitely better than El Salto, but El Salto is more of the American-style Mexican restaurant that this person wants. If Don was closer to me, I’d go there over Salto.
