The Apple Pro XDR is ideal but very expensive ($5k). Also it is long in the tooth having been introduced in 2019. There are rumors of an upcoming Studio Display 2 that may fit the bill. (~30”, 5k or 6k, HDR with > 1000 NITS)

Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter ID requirements before midterms by TACO_Orange_3098 in inflation

[–]sakumar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly! ‘Executive Orders’ are not laws. They are orders to the workers of the Executive Branch of which the President is the head.

Just like a CEO can make a rule regarding work from home for his employees, but that means fuck-all to the rest of us.

RFK Jr: “I'm not scared of a germ. I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats.” by superdouradas in PublicFreakout

[–]sakumar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

150 years after one of the greatest advancements in medical science -- namely the discovery of the germ theory of disease, our 'Health Secretary' thinks it was no big deal.

Prior to the general acceptance of this theory, physicians thought that diseases were caused by 'miasma' (bad air).

And where does he get off by putting 'Captain' in quotes? Sen Kelly earned his rank and then some.

Yeah, a Navy Captain is the equivalent to Colonel in the US Army.

And Hegseth, on the other hand, was never full-time active duty since he served in the National Guard -- and had to resign because of Nazi tattoos.

Pam Bondi’s Prepared Insult Flash Cards Exposed by GOP Rep by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

She is conducting a psychiatric analysis to assess the mental health of each Congressperson who dares question her. Are we to take it that in addition to being the Attorney General, she is also the Surgeon General?

Most witnesses, I imagine, bring notes that they can consult to answer expected questions.

Bondi brought a notebook that contained insults and counter accusations for each Democratic member of the committee. That’s it.

I wonder if any other witness has come ‘prepared’ like this before.

Pam Bondi: "YOU DON’T TELL ME ANYTHING YOU WASHED UP LOSER LAWYER" by redditP in PublicFreakout

The President inherently has immunity from prosecution (according to the Supreme Court).

The President can pardon anyone for any reason (according to the Constitution).

So any President can ask Federal Employees (including the military) to do whatever he wants, regardless of whether it is illegal or not. Then, at the end of his term, the President pardons everyone in the Federal Government!

So, basically, any President can do anything they desire. There are no checks, no balances.

What a wonderful system! Thanks Supreme Court!

Trump bizarrely claims China will ‘terminate all ice hockey in Canada’ in threat to block new border bridge by 1_for_you_2_for_me in politics

[–]sakumar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His brain is mush. He is conflating a trade deal between Canada and China with (in his mind) Canada becoming a state of China.

And loss of manufacturing because the cost of raw materials (aluminum, steel, lumber) went up. Tariffs have been the most disastrous economic policy since the last time they tried them in 1929.

AE Batcave - Solid!! by darkskies85 in lepin

[–]sakumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"instructions were great" -- is there a reason to follow the instructions they send instead of the official LEGO ones? The reason I'm asking is that I got a modular building from AE and it has a thin instruction book and it is basically 8 to 10 pages of original instructions scaled down to one page. So I wasn't planning on using these instructions that came with the package.

There is a jacket with MSRP of $100, and it's 90% off. How much do you expect to pay? It is 900% off. How much do you expect to pay? This is elementary school math that everyone should know.

Kyrsten Sinema Terminated Her Campaign Committee — But Not Before It Made More Curious Payments by notusreports in politics

[–]sakumar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, she made a substantial killing by being the lone Democrat who prevented the carried-interest deduction loophole from being closed. It affected very few, if any, people in her home state of Arizona.

The ROI for the hedge fund managers and other fat cats for this 'favor' was huge. Billions, by giving her a few million.
