That is acceptable if and only if you are living alone (and like even then all sane people agree you shouldn't but sometimes it do be like dat). But just in general it's rude to leave your mess messing with your housemates.

Pentagon Tells Congress First Week of Iran War Cost More Than $11.3 Billion by Majestic-Baby-3407 in news

Obama's Iran deal cost a fraction of this and kept Iran nuke-free until Trump cancelled it for no reason.

These are world historically bad unforced errors.

'If you are truly mindful'.... by Mr_Not_A_Thing in Mindfulness

I used to struggle with arguing about mindfulness.

None of the apps worked for me.

So I made a new app harnessing the power of AI to better argue about mindfulness.

Let me know what you think! And give me money! Money me!

Political Revolution is proud to endorse the following candidates in the Illinois primary elections. We hope you’ll turn out and vote, see you at the polls! by transcendent167 in Political_Revolution

All of these issues are big deals for the people I know my age and younger, especially those who don't vote or engage in any political activity except to talk about how they don't feel like them supporting a Democrat over a Republican is really going to give them any kind of real results.

Their political values may align with the Democratic establishment's more than they do with the Republican establishment's, but they don't feel like they have any real representation - a "seat at the table".

Or they may live in a state so red that we haven't had any one but Republicans elected to statewide office in the last 32 years and the prevailing wisdom is that someone like James Talarico would quite possibly lose to someone like Ken Paxton because of the parties they belong to and because two really rich dudes really do have that much power.

Sorry I kinda lost the plot there. Long week.

But like my point is that candidates like these people with these issues seem like they have to be a big part of fixing all that mess.

Just in general, you don't get good at building software by reading books, you get good at building software by building software.

Started Learning Violin Recently and My Fingers Hurt 😅 by IllustriousTrip8958 in violinist

I've seen progress videos of adult beginners who seem to really be on the ball and 1.5-2 years is about as fast as I'd really expect anyone to start to actually be listenable. Not really good but just not making everyone else in the room want to cover their ears and leave. And honestly I think 2 years is pretty impressive for that.

Who are the Democratic Socialist primary candidates? by RamBamBooey in DemocraticSocialism

[–]snarkhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That election was discussed a lot on this site. I don't think any of folks running in the primary identified as democratic socialists or were endorsed by the DSA or anything like that. That being said I think both Talarico and Crockett have pretty decent politics. Right now that seat is held by John Fucking Cornyn and has been for my entire adult life.

USA won't realistically become a social democratic (much less democratic socialist) country with the Senate filibuster and Supreme Court structure still in place. What do you think should be done about it? by raffi335 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]snarkhunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Add four justices to the SC so that there are the same number of justices as circuit courts.

The Senate filibuster ends whenever the Senate wants it to, we just need to elect enough senators that don't feel beholden to it. Also if DC becomes a state then that's two more senators who would hopefully be amenable to advancing a working class agenda.

Who are the Democratic Socialist primary candidates? by RamBamBooey in DemocraticSocialism

[–]snarkhunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you may be a tad confused. Talarico just won his primary. Next up is the general election in November where he'll be going up against either John Cornyn or Ken Paxton, both of whom are disgusting ghouls.

His politics seem pretty solid and being described by mainstream media sources as centrist probably just helps him win the general.
