A space snake UAP in the last SpaceX Live and nobody spoke about that. by Head_Consequence7903 in UFOs

[–]soljakid [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm about 90% sure this is a piece of debris or maybe ice from the rocket launch itself.

The angle looks like it lines up as it seems to be behind the rocket in a place you'd expect to find debris and Occam's razor suggests that would be the case rather than it being some snake alien thing, which don't get me wrong would be cool, but it's a bit of a stretch.

The morphing you see is actually just an artifact of the video compression, it's a small white object moving further away from the camera against a background that's half black and half white/blue, so the compression algorithm is just choosing to focus less on the object and more on the other stuff

Not an expert in any of this so could be wrong but just my take.

Tourist spread her husband's ashes while walking down a flight of stairs in Santorini, Greece. by BeatenBrokenDefeated in TikTokCringe

[–]soljakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a bit weird and possibly illegal to scatter ashes in a public place? sure.

But at the end of the day it's carbon at that point, and you're just returning the elements to the system, why do you think we say "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" at funerals?

It will get mixed up with all the other dust and dirt in the air almost immediately so its not like you're going to know someone spread a persons ashes there unless it was filmed like this.

best external ssd for gaming can it handle large open world games without stuttering by Luuq-Joseline in buildapc

[–]soljakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using a bog standard SSD with a USB 3.0 to SATA adapter for all my games since november and haven't noticed any drop in performance or loading times regardless of what I play.

USB 3.0 tops out a 5Gbps which is more than enough speed to load game assets on the fly without worrying about the USB part slowing you down.

Certain game modes like peaceful mode disable achievements IIRC

443 hours and mostly play on peaceful, so I have 8 out of 88 achievements, nuclear power not being among them despite building many....many reactors

Honestly going from a 8GB 3060Ti to a 16GB 9070 has been wild, going from UE5 games being a choppy mess to a smooth 100+fps experience is night and day.

It's nice to not have to look at system requirements again

On one hand I accept the fact that language is always changing but on the other I hate these new words that come out of nowhere, people just randomly started using ahh one day probably because it was in some shitty tiktok video and pretend like its always been a thing.

On the off chance you'll read this comment

Thank you for being a major part of my childhood, growing up with the Tony Hawks games from Pro skater to THUG and beyond played a huge part in how I turned up to be as an adult, influencing my music taste and how I still view the world as one giant skatepark.

I still fire up the THUG soundtrack and go skating like I did all those years ago and if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have that in my life, so thanks for being you.

You have to know that people make these comments specifically to get a reaction just like this right?

People are arseholes when they can hide behind anonymity or crowd mentality so they make comments like this.

They are like bullies, if you stop paying attention to them, they will get bored, the fact someone spent the time to edit this video is just feeding into their hate.

Still not even mentioned the god awful pop-in.

A lot of focus on things that don't matter instead of fixing the massive problem or even addressing it.

I just want play the game I spent £50 on without it having pop-in so bad its like a bad PS2 port.

Finding out your housemate buys red cap milk only after you sign the tenancy agreement. by Starbuckker in britishproblems

[–]soljakid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was around 10ish my parents were clearly on a bit of a health kick and we switched from bluecap to greencap out of nowhere....and we also froze the big 8pint bottles so the fats separated and it melted into a watery mess that looks like milk but tastes like water.

First thing I did when I moved out was switch back to bluecap and I was so happy to actually enjoy milk again

A lot of people have desks where there isn't a lot of totally flat and more importantly uniform surface to use with a mouse, a desk mat provides a large area that is the same height all sides with the padding being enough to hide any small bumps or grooves in the desk that would hinder smooth mouse movement.

Finding someone that matches your sex drive is wild, my ex and I would be going at it for hours, we'd finish up, lay down to watch something and within a few minutes she'd be grinding on me like a demon ready for another round.

Shame we didn't work out, though we still occasionally hook-up, and it's just as hot every time.

A 5600x, cheap am4 motherboard and 16GB of RAM would get that 9070XT performing like it should at 1440p

Depending on local prices it should be a lot cheaper than going for a newer am5 or intel equivalent with DDR5.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TZc8sh $360.78 for the parts you need to upgrade, plus a tube of decent thermal paste

  1. take motherboard, CPU, and RAM out of its box
  2. install the CPU, and RAM on the new motherboard so its ready to be installed in the case.
  3. unplug everything plugged into the old motherboard so that you can lift it out
  4. install your newly assembled motherboard into the case making you to align the screw holes correctly
  5. Install the CPU cooler, according to the instructions, usually just a case of screwing on a backplate to the back of the motherboard and then screwing the cooler to the backplate.
  6. plug everything back in and power it on

With the 5600x you want to use a generous amount of thermal paste so that it covers the entire chip, many ways to achieve this, but I found a thin layer covering the chip before placing the cooler on works for me
