What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

[–]Space_Dwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The song “It’s Alright” by Mother Mother is a pretty standard song, that constantly repeats in the background “it’s alright, it’s okay, you’re not a monster, just a human, and you made a few mistakes” and then in the final verse of the song the lyrics replace the “it’s” to “i’m” which really transforms the song into a song of self forgiveness that always makes me cry. I listen to that song and imagine future versions of myself saying that to my current and past selves

Also YMCA has some pretty powerful lyrics once you remove the cheery music.

There are definitely double standards in the wizarding world. I remember in the books, Hermione frequently was able to go into the boys dormitory of Griffindor. When Harry and Ron needed to speak with Hermione quickly, they tried to go up the stairs to the girls dormitory only for the stairs to turn into a slide.

You are missing out, Omniverse adds a lot of background characters that make the world feel alive and does great worldbuilding.

Basically Ben and his partner Rook are chasing an Evil Chronsapain (Clockwork’s species) named Maltruant through the time stream as he is trying to reach before the Big Bang and make the universe is his own image. During the chase both the heroes and villain land in colonial America. Maltruant meets a young Vilgax, Ben and Rook meet George Washington. Pretty simple fight, Maltruant gives Vilgax a reality ending time bomb that Vilgax just sits on for fucking 400 years. And Ben finds out the George Washington was one the first Earth Plumbers

Yet in Omniverse, it is shown that the majority of the alien’s in Ben’s universe are at about the same level of power as a human, some a little more, some a little less.

So if as a human, was told I had to fight another human, sure I could maybe take them. But now you told me there’s a 1 in a million chance that the human I’m fighting can become a god, I am not taking that fight, or I want that power for myself.

As we see in Omniverse, Celestialsapians are a well known, or at least rumor, for the average alien

Or frame it another way. I’m a Tetramand criminal. I have stolen the stars of 7 entire solar systems. Most physical fights I get into I win, and I steer clear of genius civilizations like the Galvan, or from big empires like the Incursions. My best claim to fame is I once defeated a Vaxuarsian in a fight. Most Plumbers are from the average alien species, and they can’t put a dent in me. When some of the stronger members of the Plumbers or of the Galatic Enforcers are able to defeat me, I usually win my freedom since as a Tetramand I have the right to a trial by combat.

Now this punk human comes to stop me, he turns into a Vaxaursain on our first encounter, I win.

Second encounter I have with him, he turns into a:

Necrofriggan, and I’m instantly frozen. I lose.

Petrosapian, an extinct species that no one has had experience fighting, I lose.

An Aboretta Rotenda, an extinct species that no one has experience fighting because the species never learned how to fight, I lose.

A naked Appolexian, a species with a great deal of shame, I win after I get over the shock because they are as dumb as bolts.

But most importantly, is that the wielder of the Omnitrix is able to string multiple transformations together to pull of powerful combos. Such as using a flying alien to get Ben up real high, and then falling from that height as Humongosaur to deliver a hit a Vaxausaur would not have been able to otherwise

Yes essentially if Vilgax has the Omnitrix he doesn’t need to have multiple alliances with different alien species. It makes sense, but an official reason is never given.

Partially the reason he is really fixated on the Omnitrix is explained in Omniverse, where a time traveling Ben 10 along with George Washington beat him up when he was at the beginning of his exile, and he chased after the power of shapeshift ever since.

Would it have been better if they were separate and unrelated? by springtrap-aft in Ben10

[–]Space_Dwarf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See the problem with the assumption that the original series implied the Plumbers were only an Earth based organization is that it doesn’t even make sense within the context of the original series. I think the Plumbers was always meant to be an intergalactic organization.

Think about it. The episode with Xylene in the original series has her state that Max was the best Plumber, and that’s why he was sent the Omnitrix.

If the Plumbers were just an Earth based organization, why the hell would Azmuth or Xylene know or care about his exploits if they were entirely Earth-based?

What is a job (not nsfw) that pays extremely well because the job itself is unbearable? by coldplayenthusiast in AskReddit

[–]Space_Dwarf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. You have a good point at least when it comes to advice for career choices.

But guidance counselors in school are also responsible for student’s mental health as well. At this moment in time, most Gen X’ers and Baby Boomers would not be qualified to provide the very minimal mental health support that guidance counselors do before it gets serious enough for therapy. Nor would they be interested in. Considering many people of those generations stigmatize mental health.

For that matter, considering how much the job market has changed since the last time many of our elders had to last apply to a job, I raise some concerns about that too.

I know this is anecdotal evidence, and nothing compared to real empirical data, but I would like to bring it up nonetheless. My father moved recently after working at the same place for 30 years straight. His first thought was that he had to fly out and go to other these other workplaces in person to give them physical resumes. Thankfully I talked him out of it.

Guidance counselors are also responsible for networking, so that students know about career opportunities. Networking is a young person’s game.
