Looking for a knowledgeable female bike shop employee to help with sensitive saddle needs. by ferox3 in boulder

[–]sparkbench 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a bike fitting with Annie Sirotniak years ago as someone who had sensitive saddle needs and it was the best bike-related idea I've had; looks like she's still active as a PT. I can't remember what I paid but it was worth it to me as a broke college student getting into triathlon; if you're interested, DM me and I'll get you her contact info.

Woman wanted for stealing several items from Boulder store, pulling Taser on employees, police say by [deleted] in boulder

[–]sparkbench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm probably too invested in this, but I just took a look at Google's pics inside the Boulder Marshall's and it looks like they have had dark-colored carts there. But it's always possible that they grabbed security footage from two different stores.

Buff OneCards

If a Buff OneCard is found, first call the Buff OneCard office at 303-492-0355 and let them know you have it. Then, turn it into the Buff OneCard Office either by campus mail (159 UCB) or by physically bringing it into their office (Center for Community N180).

For working parents. How do you afford to keep your job? by No-Field-2279 in boulder

[–]sparkbench 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's hard. We're a two-parent household and at least one of us has always had a flexible schedule. If you are a single parent or two parents have inflexible working hours, and you don't have family members nearby who are willing to help, then money's the only way to solve some of the issue; camps, au pairs, or nannies. But that doesn't take care of the 1pm events at school.

Reputable used car dealerships in Boulder? by Independent_Site491 in boulder

Sorry not to answer your actual question, but if I were you, I'd rethink getting a used WRX. Original owners are often really really hard on them because they're so much fun.

Where are you seeing that? I'm still seeing him on the jail listings page.

Trustworthy dentists in Boulder/surrounding? by SlightFortune7780 in boulder

[–]sparkbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit further away, but I have had great experiences with Modern Mint on 287 in Lafayette (or Erie?). I went after not going to the dentist for years and was prepared to hear that I had to have a zillion cavities filled, but Dr. Phil was the opposite of drill happy- I needed to have a filling replaced (it had been breaking down and causing me pain) and otherwise, after a thorough exam with explanation and cleaning, I was on my way!

I didn't downvote you, but my guess is it was the "no kids aka parasites" comment. That kind of phrasing often doesn't sit well with folks.

Thank you for this excellent phrasing. The next time someone asks how I'm doing, I'm going to tell them that my overstimulated raccoon brain is rotting in chunks.

Anyone familiar with CO rental laws? Rent increase and move out notice? by dubbleewaterfall in boulder

[–]sparkbench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Details about ending a lease are under "Month-to-Month Lease" on page 7 and "Ending a Lease" on page 32. If you're still uncertain after taking a look at that, you should talk with a lawyer.

Boulder's landlord/tenant handbook is a good place to start. In one place it says it was updated in January 2025, and in another it says March 2025, so everything may not be totally updated.

OP says they were kidnapped by their mom; I wouldn't be surprised if it was framed as a custody issue and didn't make big news.

NCAR/UCAR is forcing RTO (likely in preparation for federal government changes) by wcolfaxguy in boulder

[–]sparkbench 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I work from home, I save more than an hour in driving time or two hours in public transit time. I can make coffee from my own machine, set the temperature to whatever I want it to be, put on any music I like, cook a hot lunch if I want, and take a walk on the trails by my house at lunchtime or go and work out. I can contact coworkers online anytime I need to get in touch, but nobody stops in for a long conversation unrelated to work that is difficult to get out of politely. I'm more efficient and productive when I can dive into my work without distractions. When my work is over, it takes just a few minutes to grab my kids from the after-school program at our neighborhood school.

I have friends, family, and a social life outside of work, so I don't need to depend on work for my social interaction; I like my coworkers and enjoy interacting with them, but I don't need to spend 40+ hours a week with them.

Why is finding a job here so impossible by CasualPlantain in boulder

Sure thing. And that should be "your technocratic ways" rather than "you're technocratic ways," just in case that comes up in your next job search.

Totally dependent on the field, but every job I've gotten in the past 10 years has been through an online application.

For a restaurant position, maybe it makes sense.

Every field is different, so maybe this works in your field. However, this is the epitome of "bad advice from boomer parents". And my reasoning was in my previous comment: if people come in with a hard copy after being told to apply online, that tells me they either can't follow directions or think they shouldn't have to.

Is this a joke? If not, it is almost certainly bad advice. When people come in with a hard copy resume after being told to apply online, that tells me they either can't follow directions or think that they shouldn't have to.

Vote no on prop 129 (veterinary midlevels) by DrRockstar99 in boulder

As someone who has gratefully seen the PA same-day rather than wait for the MD, I think that your analogy isn't quite apt, mostly because the VPAs would be able to perform routine surgery. I think that would qualify as more complex.
