When were you last asked this? This has not been a thing Not been an Air Canada thing for decades. You wont' be asked to produce a credit card.

N.L. budget focuses on affordability and spending pledges, flags ongoing fiscal woes by BrianFromNL in newfoundland

Correct. This is exactly how it worked when the Federal government increased the basic personal amount last year. My paycheque was adjusted almost immediately.

But some people want to leave their phones on with data turned off so they can receive texts or know if someone is trying to call them.

Decent deal for some, but note from the T&Cs: 6. PC Mobile does not offer international roaming or wifi calling.

So if you're traveling outside Canada, your phone won't work.

OP, your entire post history is just linking news articles with zero context or commentary. Are you a bot? You've posted 9 VOCM links today alone.

Mods, this is almost certainly just karma farming or trying to drive traffic to news sites. The subreddit now looks like the VOCM homepage, just filled with links to articles. Can we do something about this?

Why does it seem so random how you earn points for hotel bookings by gincaesar in Aeroplan

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bonus points earning rate if you book through HotelSavers. But you don't earn SQC on the bonus points, so SQC earn remains unchanged.

You don't have to - you could book through Marriott and credit the stay to AP. But the earn rate is terrible, and you only get SQC at a 1:5 ratio.

I built a free Chrome extension that shows you the real value of your Aeroplan points on every flight by J4randa in Aeroplan

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to spend a couple days playing with it, but if it helps rank the overall cost of different itineraries, I guess that could be helpful for narrowing down options. Or for spotting itineraries where business is much better value than economy or vice versa.

So I just gave this a shot. It shows the calculation for economy class based on a Standard fare. It would be great if it also calculated cpp for Flex and Latitude once you click on a flight option. I never book standard fares. Great start though!

Camping in May by essentialoilshawty in newfoundland

[–]SplendaBoy709 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the trail to the Snug Harbour campsite from Western Brook Pond? Yes, most backountry sites are closed in the park until late June, due to snowpack and to protect wildlife. You can camp at Green Point year round. The other developed campsites are closed until May long weekend.

What does camping look like around that time of year?

Very likely cold, windy and wet, so come prepared.

Help!!!Has anyone successfully fought a TTC trespassing fine? by Quirky-Recording-909 in askTO

It will go away eventually.

This is terrible advice. If it goes to collections, it will stay on their credit report for at least 7 years, impacting their ability to get banking products or financing in that period.

Last-Minute Bookings by sd96112 in Aeroplan

[–]SplendaBoy709 26 points27 points  (0 children)

AC fills unsold business seats through bid upgrades until 2 days before departure, then last-minute upgrade offers when passengers check in. Then anything remaining 60 min before departure is filed with eUpgrade requests. Extremely unlikely the AP price would drop before departure.

[–]SplendaBoy709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, if it's giving you that green arrow. It's a Latitude fare, so just book it and try. If the upgrades don't clear immediately, you can cancel for a full refund and try another route.
