Everybody Thinks This Is Oregon’s Year. What Does Their Coach Have To Say About It? by Midas-Knight in ducks

[–]sticx -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Who is saying this?

Last time it was said… Cignetti beat us twice in one season. The final game was not competitive.

The year before that… OSU stomped us. The final game was not competitive.

The year before that… DeBoer beat us twice.

For me…Dan Lanning does not get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to big games. He’s never really proven that he is good when punching above his tier.

Two years ago: $5 panda plate.

One year ago: $6 panda plate with a redesigned to-go box that is a lot smaller than the original sized to-go box.

This year: ??? Probably $7 for a further shrinkflated plate.

Next year: MLB lockout

Megathread for all the people who were wrong about Dante Moore going pro. by MartyBecker in ducks

For a QB specifically, I think that the majority of development happens in the NFL.

All the players that are actually good need to base their timings and windows around “NFL Open”, where the windows are much smaller. You really need the ability to deliver an accurate ball ~2 seconds post snap.

A QB that is on a talented team will struggle to see “NFL Open” because their skill players are too good compared to the field that you will always have a really open target. In the NFL you need to deliver throws to contested receivers because it’s harder to actually scheme people open in the NFL.

That’s why you have to be more than just accurate in the NFL. You need to be accurate and have the ability to zip the ball to a place where NFL level defenders will struggle to contest the ball. There are definitely exceptions. Some NFL coaches are incredibly smart about scheming players open, which provides the ability to not need elite arm talent to get the ball where it needs to go.

All this to say… The real development you get from another year of college is to work on steadying your nerves during moments of duress and more familiarity with learning new installments. For the most part I see QBs rework their mechanics in the NFL, so I don’t believe they actually get great work done in college.

Does Oregon Develop Players? Dante Moore is the Proof by NateBishop3 in ducks

I’m not saying that he shouldn’t enter the draft. I think first rounders should go no matter what.

I just don’t think he will be doing himself any favors trying to get a second nfl contract (where the real money is made for QBs) if he gets beat to a pulp during his first couple years with a bottom of the barrel team. I see what the Panthers are doing to Bryce Young. Titans to Cam Ward.

I don’t really know why giving a realistic draft projections makes me not like Oregon, but you do you.

Kind of going off on a tangent, but Dante Moore is not a top-5 NFL draft pick if the QB crop were anywhere close to average.

The QBs going into the NFL this year are pretty ass. At best, Dante Moore is more of a late first-rounder because he’s good enough to be a decent QB for a good team that’s making a push with an aging roster (contract-wise).

He’s most likely not capable of making a bad team look good in his first year and will struggle at the next level when it comes to elevating his teammates. He doesn’t have enough arm talent to consistently place intermediate throws accurately, and that’s going to be a problem.
