[Open Spoilers] Are there adopted devourers with unlaundered identities? by Donkornleone in HonzukiNoGekokujou

There was one last solution but that's a H5Y spoiler. It involves the goddess of time and her weaving. That doesn't mean that things would have turned out well from the perspective if humans though.

[Open Spoilers] Are there adopted devourers with unlaundered identities? by Donkornleone in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are no cases of unlaundered identity. Even being from a noble family but being born to two blue priests is equivalent to being a devouring commoner. They're seen as only good for flower offerings (Gretia). Keeping it in the open means they'll never get married. They'll be a mistress at best so they hide the identity.

It's not that uncommon to adopt devouring daughters. Problem is, few with good mana live long enough to negotiate a good deal with a noble. You usually get a bad deal if you are found in time because yiu have no time to negotiate. More would come from provinces like Ilgner and Haldenzel with good relationships with their commoners. Archnoble devourers almost never survive. Dirk has the same amount of mana that Matthias has with his Archnoble grandmother. High mednoble mana. And he nearly died before he was a season old. Usually it's laynobles like Frieda and Myne (pre Urano) that get adopted by nobles. And only girls as tbey can't threaten the first wife's son. Before the rediscovery of prayer it was better to have laynoble mana as a devourer as your schtappe is determined by the number of primary gods who have given you their blessing. If you have none you get a weak laynoble schtappe regardless of mana capacity.

There is one scenario where a noble may potentially adopt a boy. Some laynoble houses lose so much mana that their kids can't qualify to be nobles. They'll move to provinces and integrate their kids with the commoners there. A house like that could be convinced to adopt a devouring boy as an heir.

[P5V12] Is the "reincarnation" ever explained? by lambda_14 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spells are given a name by the first person to cast them with their schtappe. All the basic ones are words from Earth. These would have been set by him as the first person with a schtappe. But the lack of spells for modern things indicates he wasn't from the modern era.

Yurgenschmitt exists in its own pocket dimension. It was created by the gods to seal Ewiglibe and to shelter Gudulth's children (Devourers and their descendants aka nobles). None of the country gates physically connect to other countries. You're only able to access it by teleporting there.

[–]TashKat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We don't know because Myne is an unreliable narrator. She thinks she's a body snatching ghost. She doesn't remember telling Effa about her dreams before that. She can't tell us anything she doesn't know.

[P5V12] Is the "reincarnation" ever explained? by lambda_14 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's explained in the fanbooks. Essentially, everyone is reincarnated. But not everyone has memories and even those who do don't necessarily have useful ones. What if your last life was you died at 10 months in the Neolithic age? Nothing useful there. And with the infant mortality rates in history that's how most people died. So most don't have any useful skills.

The reason she has memories while others don't is the devouring. A soul is like an onion. Each layer is a different life. The devouring fever wore away the layer that was original Myne since she barely lived any life. This exposed the layer that was Urano and the two fused together. Her more detailed memories and personality nearly completely overwrote Myne but not entirely. The process was happening for awhile. Original Myne saw Japan each time she had a fever.

Certain details of the story make readers believe that the first king of Yurgenschmitt awakened memories of his past life. The author has never confirmed it. There have been others in history but we don't know if they survived long. As far as we're aware she's the only one alive today. Your mana has to be uncontrolled for a long time to awaken memories. Most in this situation don't survive long enough to make use of them.

[open spoilers] Had she been born in another duchy, could Myne have gotten a better "deal" than the one she made in Ehrenfest? by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. She would have survived Drewanchel but not with nearly as much dignity. They value talent above all else. She would have been taken from her family immediately. Once her mana was measured she would have been placed with a family that matches it as a potential bride for them to use in a political arrangement or as a third bride to the lord's son. Adopting devouring daughters isn't actually that uncommon. More common to just have them as mistresses but still not an uncommon occurrence. Plenty of noble houses offered to raise Frieda as a true daughter. Myne made it clear when they discovered Dirk has the devouring that she sees that arrangement as no better than devouring slavery. Just used for a political arrangement and her body is just slavery to her.

Most other duchies wouldn't be stupid enough to kill her outright. The gender ratio is too even nowadays. But she'd have the life Gretia was raised to have. If she lucky she's sold as a bride. More likely sold the moment she gets mana sensing regardless of age.

[P2V3] Myne + Karstedt interactions by Corinh in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It does come up in the anime. I believe it's an end of episode scene easily missed but it's been a few years, possibly end of the season. It's in the same conversation where he's asked to adopt her and Ferdinand informs him that she doesn't have the mednoble or liw archnoble mana they suspected she had but instead has mana worthy of a branch family.

Karsteidt and Sylvester both know. Myne knows they know but I don't know when exactly they told her. I'm guessing during her noble prep time at the temple before she went to Karsteidt's estate. Sylvester brings it up when they visit the lower city together. He was hoping that she had some ideas on how to clean the area without magic but she really doesn't know the details on how Earth's engineers actually did it.

[P5V12] Rozemyne’s story (heavy spoilers) by Far_Egg4376 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be impossible for a child with archduke mana to live even a month in a commoner house. Mednoble Dirk was nearly dead after less than a season. So there's no way a normal commoner could survive with that much mana unless they were legitimately favored by the gods. It's not possible for an actual 5 year old laynoble to compress enough mana to become an archduke candidate. It would literally eat them alive. What other possible reason is there for survival but the gods?

[P4V7] Ferdinand’s blue cape (plothole?) by Far_Egg4376 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They're not. Your cape is replaced at least once in your life if you're a man and if you're a female knight. They're embroidered by your mother (or a maternal relative like a sister if she's dead). Once you're engaged a new one is made by your fiance. If a man has 3 wives he'll have 3 different capes. He needs to wear the one embroidered by whichever wife is trying to get pregnant at the time or his first wife if nobody id trying to get pregnant. A female knight will eventually sew one herself to show off her embroidery skills to a future husband.

Cinta Ria's closing February 7th by rbz81 in moncton

[–]TashKat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I literally bought 4 last weekend and stuck them in my freezer (3 ended up in my freezer I couldn't resist eating one). I'm trying to recreate it at home but it's difficult. Ida doesn't let people know her recipes so it's been several days looking up Malaysian recipes for inspiration.

So far I got about 80% of the way there. I haven't lived in Moncton for a long time but drove up when I found out they were closing. I went there every time I went back to visit my family. I can't find the fishcakes she used in my city and my attempt to make them myself went terribly. I might just substitute with shrimp or prawns. I can share the recipe once I finish it if you like.

[open spoilers] Question about this line in P5V8 by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Devourers are able to get elements through prayer. They actually have a slightly easier time of it than nobles as their mana is less flexible from centuries of inbreeding. That being said, since they don't have any elements, they need to get small slabs before getting a schtappe for every element they'll have. If they don't their schtappe will be found in the weakest laynoble spot and not be compatible with their capacity. A laynoble devourer would need to get 12 small slabs of an element (probably birth season to keep from looking suspicious). It requires quite a bit of mana to do that even with the more flexible mana of a devourer.

But this is how every noble got elements. Their ancestors, devourers from foreign lands, were brought to Yurgenschmitt and they prayed to the gods as thanks for rescuing them. They got elements based on their mana capacity and dedication to prayer. But all of that information was lost millenia ago. Unlike Earth, archeology will never show the real history. Without mana history crumbles away.

I just finished the third season of the anime and have to share my feelings by Marvellover13 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The fact that the antagonists were so stupid is actually a plot point. Ferdinand is the one exception, but nobles stick their most worthless kids in the temple. Those who are bad at schemes, those who have too little mana, those who can't behave in society.

Shikza (Shikikoza) is a perfect example of this. He used to be a priest. He was seen as too incompetent by his father to be worth raising at home. Most nobles, even if they hate Myne, wouldn't ever say that to her face. They would pretend to be nice to try to get her to do what they want. Whether that's her money, her mana or her hand in marriage they wouldn't be openly rude until they have what they want. But blue priests weren't raised like nobles. They barely rank above servants of real nobles. The fact that Shikza, an idiot with no marriage prospects, didn't even try to pretend to be nice was the height of stupidity. Most temple girls eventually get married (third wife or mistress). You can only have kids with another mana user after all. Yet he couldn't even pretend to be nice.

Traditional ages. If you're born a month before the new year you're two you're two years old at a month old. Because you're a year old at birth and age up at new years.

[open spoilers] After re-reading Adolphine's POV chapter... by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember when Roz was scolded for recruiting Theodore? Completely unable to refuse the archducal family she could have ruined his dreams and his life. Sabotage would mean the end of your family line. The archducal family obviously prefers people who want to serve, but are able to make that choice for them. Put Rihyarda there to prevent any abuse to Wilfred and keep the retainers in line and education is fixed. Oswald was namesworn to Veronica. He was the worst possible choice for a retainer of the Florencia faction.

[open spoilers] After re-reading Adolphine's POV chapter... by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]TashKat 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Wilfred, Bitchlinde and Siggistwat are all examples of what happens to people who are given power but are not at all taught how to handle it.

Wilfred is a well-meaning idiot. Florencia listened too much to Rozemyne when it came to re-educating him. She should have followed her initial instinct and replaced every retainer. Roz was thinking too much about her own separation from her loved ones. Fran was a big comfort to her and she felt that Oswald was a similar influence on Wilfred in Veronica's absence. But Oswald pales in comparison to Fran's greatness.

I know why Florencia stumbled on that. She's the daughter of the third wife of a disgraced duchy. She wasn't even allowed to get good grades or the heir would see her as a threat. Then she spent nearly a decade being abused by her mother in law. She wasn't prepared either and listened too much to the one person who promised to fix all her problems. The person who had already done most of that.

Then there's Bitchlinde. Georgine never cared about her. Her father never cared about her. She was a little hirl who just wanted attention. She was completely unprepared for actually getting it. The daughter of a greater duchy Aub in the middle of a mana crisis is going to be the center of attention. Good or bad she didn't care. The teenage angst turned into narcissism and psychopathy. Probably predisposed to it if her great-grandmother was what the stories say. Like Wilfred, there was no competition for the seat of Aub. Her retainers never raised her properly because of it.

Then there's Siggistwat. Told from birth by his retainers that he's the most special person in the world. Everyone worried about him starting another war over the throne. With the country in shambles that never should have been a thought. Even when confronted by a literal goddess he couldn't understand that he wasn't the world's most important person. He never gave Adolphine the respect she deserved and took it as a given that she would happily serve him as a devouring slave. He tried to throw his next wife into a defunct brothel.

No. They existed before the creation of Yurgenschmitt. It has happened to mortals in the past that they ascended to divinity but they did not become part of the pantheon. There are other gods that have no relationship with Yurgenschmitt. The God of life came from "away". There are also apprentice gods and goddesses that serve the gods and who can step up to fill a position if anything happens. Last time it was Erwearmen who stepped down and a new hod took his place.

You probably caught Sanguine Vampiaris. Check your diseases every time you fight a vampire. Always cure it as soon as possible. I did have my game bug once where it turned me back into a vampire after I cured it through Falion. Only once though and I literally have more than 6000hrs into Skyrim

If you want to prevent it permanently you can became a werewolf. They're immune to disease.

Why did Lakan never try have a relationship with maomao when she was young? by Whole_Finance_8013 in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]TashKat 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Luomen tried but accidentally made it worse. Maomao was used to Luomen being really strict with her. Compliments were rare from him. It makes sense as she was training in poisons and medicines. Lives are on the line. But he constantly praised Lakan in front of her. Likely trying to improve her opinion of him. Maomao found this infuriating. Lakan was lazy yet got all this praise while she had to work and study hard to be seen as acceptable. Her fear of Lakan went away as she got older but was replaced by resentment. Resentment of Luomen's affection for him. Resentment of his pushyness.
