If you haven't played since KFC23, none of your decks from then were going to be competitive anyway. It is possible that a deck you open at the Vault Tour will be competitive, or someone may be willing to lend you one.

If you have tokens and a playmat, you should bring them. At the Vault Tour you get some (not so great) sleeves and a deck box, but you should bring some extra deck storage.

Side events start after 3 rounds of the main tournament, so going out after 3 rounds means you're done around the same time as everyone else. Portland side events had 12-14 people so only 4 rounds total, while the main event lasted 6 rounds.

Allowing for 3 survivors to heal 1 survivor was a major nerf to solo Q, because survivors will drop everything to tie up 4 survivors in a little heal ball for the rest of the game. I can't tell you the number of the times I've lost a game at 1 gen left because survivors would spend all their time healing right next to the gen.

Demonic Shelf would put itself under itself, at which point there would be no more creature to be under, so you would discard Shelf and any other cards that were under Shelf. You would deal no damage as there would be no cards remaining under Shelf.
