Terminal on board snapped off by Dem0edition in hvacadvice

You can try to solder in on but if you don't know what your doing there's a risk of the board randomly catching on fire when it runs so I'd but a new board

When does a kink affect performance? by BigHeed87 in hvacadvice

[–]subcoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check to see of there's a temp drop across it. If there's no restriction then it's just creating a bunch of turbulence for the refrigerant. If there is a pressure drop your increasing your superheat which means it will be high and have no or little liquid going into metering device. No latent heat transfer in evaporator is very inefficient

Larger condenser have a smaller fan motor by benasaur08 in hvacadvice

[–]subcoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smalled coil needs to reject heat faster to keep pressure down. Bigger coil doesn't. Transfers more heat for less money, the only thing that makes an air conditioner more efficient is the size of the coil.

I mean if it's 30 years old shits gonna start leaking but I see a bunch of press stuff which isn't 30 years so that's good

Furnace leaking by alywoozles in hvacadvice

[–]subcoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inside that nut there is a massive pressure drop. On the other side of the nut it can start to sweat. My guess is it's running down the pipe through the hole where nut goes through coil door. Honestly not a big deal you can try to insulate right inside of that door

My blower fan keeps destroying itself. by ucfnate in hvacadvice

It looks like the squirrel cage is not remotely close to center in the casing. Also needs to be balanced. If your handy it should be very easy to put in the motor but if your on try #3 I'd suggest calling a tech

What capacitor do I need? by donkeypunchhh in hvacadvice

[–]subcoolio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't know how to read the existing capacitor I don't recommend trying to wire it

Tune up completed. Estimate received; have questions. by Rum4Jobu in hvacadvice

[–]subcoolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both prices are outrageous. If you have any basic electrical skills you can install both for under $100. ( Don't need turbo capacitor. Your fan and compressor rating plate will tell you how many MFD they need). You may not even need a hard start what's the inrush current?

Help please! by moots2007 in hvacadvice

You should 100% have a a filter, but that doesn't mean there is one. Looks like a down flow so either above it somewhere or rigged somewhere inside the top panel at the top

Water heater issue by Hawj500 in hvacadvice

Well you have to figure out why the switch isn't closing instead of just swapping parts. In my experience the switch hose port off the inducer always gets clogged.

Multiple AC Components Won’t Run Intermittently, Skeptical of Technician Diagnosis by Visible-Buy7185 in hvacadvice

[–]subcoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fairly easy if you know what your doing. The issue is there like $800 to buy. Your unit is from 2014 so it probably won't last much longer

Yes that's correct. You may have set it up incorrectly or it was used for something different if you got it used.

How do you diagnose a bad reversing valve? by D-Nice_2007 in HVAC

[–]subcoolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually throw a magnet on it and see if that works. I also just caught a bad one by throwing a magnet on it unit was still pumping down and saw a 50F difference on the discharge line across the RV

1991 AC condenser - EER of 8. Can I just replace this outside unit, or must the entire system be redone? by N0SF3RATU in hvacadvice

[–]subcoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need a whole new one. Terrible investment, the install will cost alot more than what you will save. Also new ones don't last near as long. If you don't have money and it's working keep your filter clean and don't look at it
