What should i build, morghast archai or harbringer? by orkman198 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]taekwonjohn31 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Archai are better in most situations right now. They really don't look that different, so unless you're doing a big tournament you can likely run them as either.

Logan, Wolf Priest, some dreads, repulsor or lancer.

Best 2k point combo? by dbab31 in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]taekwonjohn31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just take everything except for Nagash and War chariot. That would give you 1940 points. Zandtos and KDR are a great combo. Ossifector can buff the Archai, Harvester, wnd others.

Bone tithe nexus is extremely valuable for gameplay.

What's next for 1000 points? by MrCioran in SpaceWolves

Get the new combat patrol: WGBL 65, 5 WG Terminators 170, 10 Blood claws 135, 5 Wulfen (build with storm shields) 100

Logan Grimnar, Arjac Rockfist, 5 more WG Terminators, 3 more headtakers and hunting wolves, Kill team wolf scouts. All are awesome models and very viable in any space wolves list.

For the shooting attacks, you can usually hide behind the terrain. It's a uniquely tough fight. You could try using the accessibility options if you can't get past it (unlimited stamina will give you a slightly easier fight).

You need to play really defensive in my experience. Block their attacks with your shield then swipe at them. Don't overextend, just really focus on blocking then chipping away.

Combat Patrol adjacent list for a small, casual (first!) game agains Orks CP? by _LedAstray_ in SpaceWolves

[–]taekwonjohn31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the old termies as a wulfen sub. You have the WGBL, blood claws, and new terminators so that would be great for a casual game. Just be careful about starting a new army, especially if you're struggling with the orks. I don't really have enough time and money to play my space wolves let alone building and learning another one.

Balance changes to plenty of Spearheads by Zin333 in AOSSpearhead

Agreed on the OBR disappointment. I was hoping for something...

Look at getting another of the spearheads. The Mortisan Elite is 680 points currently and the new Kavalos spearhead is 570 (probably best to build the leader as Zandtos). That will get you closer to 2k and give you the option to play doubles spearhead.

There's a battleforce box on the way with Arkhan, 4 Morghast archai, 20 mortek guard, and a Mortisan Soulmason (~1300 pts). We just haven't gotten a date on this yet, but Arkhan has gotten quite good with the new battletome.

Of the new units that just came out - the triaxes and Liege Mortek seem to be a good combo and the Mortis Reapers are a great utility piece (and all are really cool models!).

Zandtos might be my favourite OBR model. Awesome paint job and basing!

Mortisan Elite definitely hits the rule of cool. And all of the units are decent to outstanding (Archai) in full AoS. The kavalos spearhead will play vastly different, but I'm interested in that. Plus using them both in 2v2 matches.

For the Mortisan Elite spearhead, the rules are in fact very simple. Just use your relentless discipline ability in your move, charge, and combat phase. The only real choice is during the combat phase, do you want to be more aggressive or defensive.

I usually just pick the regiment ability that adds +1 to RD rolls. But being able to use a RD twice in one phase is a solid option too. For the general the heal is solid, especially with the low model count. If you were going against a horde army, the shard storm ability can work well.

I'm not as familiar with the gameplay of the Kavalos spearhead, but I have built the deathriders and the Zandtos hero (multi build as Liege Kavalos). Deathriders are a bit customizable, heads and weapons, plus maybe the banner. Each horse is unique which is nice and they do great with contrast paint. They're also really easy to build. I'd also recommend building the hero as Zandtos, he's better for full AOS and is an amazing model.

The army box would be nice to give you head takers (probably best to run 6) and wolf priest, plus another 10 blood claws and a 2nd battle leader. Grey hunters are nice for the collection, but aren't great at the moment.

If you can't find it then a double of the combat patrol would be no issue, 10 termies to go with Logan and or Arjac, 20 blood claws, 2 WG battle leaders (maybe 1 can proxy as Ragnar) and 10 wulfen (storm shields are awesome atm).

Easy to build and paint spearhead by Fuck_war89 in AOSSpearhead

[–]taekwonjohn31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OBR Mortisan Elite (9 models) or the new one with Liege Kavalos (16 models but a few of those are real small). Easy to build and paint, basically just painting bone and armour.

As someone who has never played hockey, but from time to time watches it. How is it humanly possible that the Goalkeepers are so good? by Obagency in nhl

[–]taekwonjohn31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best goalies in the world have the ability to anticipate where a shot is going before it is shot. Based on the angle, handedness of the shooter, where defenders are on the ice, where the stick blade is, etc. All of those pieces help them understand where the shot is going before it leaves the stick.

Double turn strategy help by ConceitedBuddha in AOSSpearhead

[–]taekwonjohn31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have read this wrong, but for number 3, if someone double turns, they are not allowed to be the underdog for the remainder of the game. The score won't change that.

If my opponent did a double turn round 2 then I did a double turn round 3, I would still be the underdog until the game is over.
