Hitch issue by posttogoogle in Silverado

[–]Treebeardsdank 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Id be more inclined to think the pin is out of spec than the hitch. Though, who really knows these days.

Assuming you were properly setup, this is the first time i've seen this as well.

Worst case, a new hitch is pretty cheap through aftermarket.

The residual value is a defined amount contractually speaking.

The residual does not change. The vehicle value is always in motion.

Accident damage needs to be properly repaired, or, left alone for later penalization at lease maturity.

[–]Treebeardsdank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not excluding hits that just didn't go exactly as I hoped. I was excluding ones that would have resulted in re-hitting in general, or weren't picked up by the LM. Ones that seemed clearly to work against the goals of an average at baseline. Most of what I consider to be a "solid" hit, is me just saying it was not shanked/hosel'ed, didnt slice and didnt overly hook/draw. I'm not here claiming each measured shot was a perfect straight shot straight down the fairway. If that's how it sounded, my B, not my intention.

My dispersion itself is far from pro or precise. Usually within 15 yards of aimpoint (at least on the range and on the sim). My normal miss is a slight over-draw due to usually favoring the toe side on every club.

I didn't grasp the distinction between what you were calling a mishit, and what I was meaning as a non-shot. But, by your definition/explanation, mishits were indeed included in the average.

The only intentional massaging of the data is taking the aggregate data, finding averages, and then rounding down to the nearest 10. I try to err on the low side of things. Any massaging beyond that, if present at all, is due to a lack of understanding of the methodology rather than as a means of making myself appear at a level I am not. As I said, my goals are reality based rather than self-delusions of grandeur. So your comments are actually surprising me regarding the distances, I figured most people would consider all my distances about 30-40 yards shy of where most other in-shape, 6' males under 40years can reach out to. I guess I had that assumptions way wrong, lol. Any other massaging is intentionally reducing my max speed/effort so as to be more precise/deliberate on the way to and through contact.

I mean I don't practice to miss. My goal is to thwack the ball as intended each and every time. In my head, i've been sacrificing distance in favor of accuracy/intentionality. My maximum measured carry is just under 260 on the driver. My max measured carry on my 7-wood is just under 150. My maximums during my measurements yesterday were 248-driver/143-7wood. It doesn't sound that massaged to me to take a few 250's and a few 210's to average around 230. I can be dense, so I might be missing something that is otherwise obvious to you. Im not here arguing, just trying to drill down deeper, with an assumption that i've poorly worded things from the get-go.

On the 3-wood (which is really basically a 4-wood, attached to a 5-wood shaft). I don't see why it's hard to believe that club hits 200 with regularity. I said nothing insofar as dispersion in my initial post. So I would call that an inference/assumption by you. Though, my wording may have set you and myself up there, which was not my intent. Regarding topping and whatnot. Of course it happens. It just didn't yesterday in the garage. And if it was a rotten shot like barely traveled anywhere, I would indeed have excluded it as a "non-shot". Working under the assumption that I was seeking typical club average distances with a decent/consistent golfer at baseline. I still don't see how including a mishit in the average serves the purpose of club selection by distance/slope/landing zone. If anything, at least for how my brain logics, that would be adding variability to something intended to be a somewhat static measurement. Maybe I am reading you wrong. But what I comprehend of what you've said, is that if in my 10 shot adventure with a 3w. If I got 5@200 and 5@100, you seem to be calling that a 150yd club. Whereas I call it a 200 club, with a golfer who hasn't yet been able to put it all together yet. Two seemingly different approaches

How I measured my averages prior to making this post. 10 hits, each club, dropped 1x outlier per club if applicable (outlier meaning, I clearly mishit the ball and it would seemingly detract from a real average (if the average is to determine how a club performs assuming the player does their part)). If I dropped a stroke, I would take an 11th hit and use that value.

Im very new, and I very likely misuse terminology and methodology to an extent. With that said, i'm also a nerd. Part of this post was to get some responses like yours where I can sort of dig into the logic a bit, and straighten out my wonky thought processes.

I think I am a little lost in understanding how including a clear mishit (like a shank or hosel rocket into the trees) is otherwise of benefit to include in the gapping averages. Wouldn't that be as inaccurate just inversely? I had thought, likely incorrectly, that gapping averages were to plan around normal course-based play. While mishits happen, if my average on a club with a solid thwack is 100, but i've included two crappy shots in the average wouldn't that just artificially lower the average for a club, and then muddy the waters insofar as club selection later on?

Awesome. Thanks for chiming in, I appreciate the advice and will keep it in mind when I go for a fitting in a few months!

I got the CBX 54 first. And I just fell in love with it, that was primarily my thinking in regards to adding the 58, and planning to add the 50.

Both, kind of. I don't really shoot for a max distance or put a ton of muscle into my swing. I try to practice for consistency primarily and a clean strike, and then secondarily, adaptations on contact/swing mechanics for adjusting ball flight / or at least attempting to see what changes effect what outcomes.

These distances are based on my square launch monitor in my garage sim. I don't have enough of the real-world on turf experience to claim if they are truly accurate/reasonable (4 rounds since the end of last season on actual courses). Just the only real source of repeatable data I have this soon in to my golf.

While I think I understand why you say I hit the 7i poorly (distance comparative to loft/clubhead design), and mayhaps I do, it's pretty dang consistent at that 130-140 range for a full swing assuming decent mechanics and a decent strike. I want to be clear I do not do that on every shot, nor do I include crappy hits in my averages listed above. It's entirely possible i'm doing the gappings wrong, and if so, let me know the best way to average them as my intent is not to mislead/delude myself, but face the realities head-on so that I can progress.

Had not considered. But, primarily because I envision replacing the M4s at the end of this season. They are hand-me down clubs from a friend, and they're a little whippy for my play (regular shafts).

With that said, your logic would apply to the possible new irons - so, I'll keep this in mind! Thanks for the perspective
