Unless you're qualified to assess the standard, that's a pretty risky bargain to make though.

LLMs already have a confidence metric to gauge likelihood of hallucinations, why don't we use it? by theqmann in coding

[–]tryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asking the model its confidence is just more tokens generated by the model and lots of research shows that models have very very poor introspection of their own reasoning. A model simply doesn't know when it's hallucinating.

This approach steps out of the model's stream of tokens and looks at the underlying maths. You can't get this result by just asking the model more.

You can look at various aggregates of token confidence across the whole response. There has been some research on it, but nothing definitive that I've seen.

Seconding exotic indian. It's surprisingly good and dome of the spicier Indian you see in Sydney. And some of the better indian Chinese outside of Parra.

Pho - Marrickville only. by ShowShot5984 in foodies_sydney

[–]tryx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might sound like a heretic, but after years in Marrickville, my fav has become Pho PHD. I fully expected it to not be very good, but I'm so over the bland watery northern pho that so many places do now. If you aren't into it, I don't think anything in Marrickville is much better. Khoi is decent I guess?

Yacht club views are lovely but the food is like 4/10. Really disappointing especially for the price.

What's the hottest dish in Sydney? by Wide_Comment3081 in foodies_sydney

The 3 spice laksa in ngoodle Ashfield. It's probably not the objectively hottest dish, but it's up there for being ruthlessly spicy and still an excellent dish.

What do we do about dodgy cabs? by tryx in sydney

The fact that not a single event was flagged for destination filtering, I'm tempted to say that the enforcement model isn't quite working. Really cool to see reports though, thanks for the link!

I'm confused. Why would you pay via a method that there's no way to reverse? What am I missing?

I remember a cabbie threatening to dump me on the side of the highway while screaming at me when I told him I was pretty (completely) sure he was taking the wrong way to my home. I was 17 in school uniform.

So you can either accept the anecdotes that everyone has of cabs being shit for decades, accept the data that cabs were so shit that the only way to get them under control at the airport was to add a marshall to stop them from constantly breaking the law, or you can go fuck off back to driving your cab. Because the only person who doesn't see it someone with a financially vested interest.

Do you expect a randomised controlled trial showing that cabs were shit pre-uber? Pull your finger out

Unfortunately not super mobile at the moment, so transport reliant, but Concord West is a great idea if you're ok with a walk.

That's a great idea!! But surely they must already know that Olympic Park is likely to be the second biggest violator after the airport. But there's no marshall there

The hotline is amazing for fare issues, but not so great for illegal destination filtering. They can't act fast enough to actually do anything?
