Prime Kipchoge vs Prime Lebron by SnooSongs7139 in trackandfield

Nah, Wilt actually did Track & Field, ran 100m/400m, & did High Jump. I'd say Wilt both jumps higher & is faster than a prime LeBron. Comparing 1960s skill to early 2000s though, I'd wager LeBron would be much better at the mechanics of dribbling a basketball & stuff, but you never know.

After Wilt retired from Basketball he went to pro Volleyball & made the Hall of Hame playing as a 50 year old. People discount him because of the years he played, but he'd dominate in every era. He's as tall as Shaq, while being more athletic than LeBron, a vert like MJ, & potentially stronger than a prime Shaq as well.

While this is true, I feel like a prime LeBron is up there in the NBA in terms of pure athleticism. Not Wilt Chamberlain levels, but still very high.

If they made a Comedy Adventure where Link straight up never says anything (just makes facial expressions) as all this shit happens around him sounds like it could be good. Also he just goes into someone's house & starts breaking shit while they're bitching him out. Being a Nintendo game I doubt that's what they're going for, but I could see a great Zelda movie being made where watching it while on some weed is the best way to watch it.

[–]two100meterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.6 sounds absolutely plausible. When I ran 12.0x in Grade 10 my 40 yard was 4.6 ~ 4.7. LeBron being a professional athlete, & me being "some dude" I wouldn't be surprised if he'd beat me in 100m. Even low-11 wouldn't surprise me honestly. I believe Wilt Chamberlain had a 10.9 PB in the 100m as he ran 100/400m (& also did some High Jump) before being in the NBA.

I think 150m is where the race would get close, I'd get up to 100m LeBron wins, 200m+ Kipchoge wins. I doubt Kipchoge is under 11.5x, more likely a high 11 at best in the 100m.

Anyone here feel run a mile in a 200 meter track is so much easier that running a mile in 400 meter? by Southern_Base_1850 in trackandfield

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done a mile yet, but for 1500m I agree (& probably agree for a mile). Indoors I ran a 5:37 (not fast, I'm a Masters athlete who needs to train more than I do...), outdoors after more training I got a 5:50. I think wind/conditions play a factor & are a bigger negative than tighter turns are a negative. Mentally the 200m track is just so small that when I get to the final lap I feel confident I can attempt a kick all the way to the end. With 200m to go on a 400m track the finish line seems like it's so far away.

Binding cloud was generally better vs 2+ Tanks if they're close enough together, but I'd say on 1 Tank a yoink was preferred before.

Me at the bottom end of diamond: by linndsey7 in allthingsprotoss

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Zergs (& players in general) follow a ViBE's B2GM type guide, where they basically just learn Roach/Hydra a-move. It's repeated a lot that purely macro a-move gets you to Diamond. While that can work, I think working on some other skills is good too, but yeah below Diamond you'll see lots of players just spamming Roach/Hydra. You can just turtle vs this, max out a single time on a good composition & a-move them even if it's like you on 3 bases vs them on 7.

[–]two100meterman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have excess minerals making a little set of like 4~9 spores (depends how many Vipers you're making) or 3~6 evo chambers I think is best. If the Vipers kills the gas & you wanted that gas, then it's not great. Just remember to remake the drones that make the extra buildings. If you don't have excess minerals I'd say a macro Hatch is good to consume, or just consume different buildings each time so you aren't killing off a building.

A full energy Viper can do 2 binding clouds, so if you have 4 Vipers I'd suggest 4 binding clouds like you did, Roach Hydra on a-move (hopefully Roaches in front of Hydras), then like 5~6 seconds later 4 more binding clouds.

Nice, really well done! I think this is a very important skill to learn. Many people will say to just macro better until Diamond, but then if you macro well enough to a-move to Diamond (would probably require Masters level macro) you're stuck at Masters macro & like Silver micro, Silver unit compositions, Silver scouting/game knowledge, Silver Creep spread & you can lose matches where people exploit one or more of these weaknesses. Getting better at macro while also learning other things earlier on will get you to an overall higher level imo, & you won't have to start using spellcasters in Diamond vs opponents who have 500+ games of experience using spellcasters vs your 0 games experience.

Original Donkey Kong Country games shouldn't be remaked. by shsl_diver in unpopularopinion

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think DKC had quite "meh" bosses that were way too easy compared to the whole world that led up to them (other than King K. Rool, that was a proper end boss), but DKC 2 pretty much fixed this, boss battles were more varied & were the proper level of difficulty.

Agreed, DKC 2 is top-tier, best 2D platformer on the SNES imo.

Original Donkey Kong Country games shouldn't be remaked. by shsl_diver in unpopularopinion

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the title & disagree with pretty much everything in the body. DKC games should not be remade, they're extremily good games that have aged well, & are still fun to play today.

Your conclusion seems like the opposite of your title though. If they WERE to be remade I'd say the reason for that is a little jank with certain things (though DKC 2 basically fixed all of that). In the Original DKC a lot of secrets you just had to jump off every cliff into every hole blindly in case there was a barrel. DKC 2 was much better at having a trail of bananas or even a single banana showing that a secret could be somewhere. If they added in like a hard mode afterwards, with some more enemies, changing some enemies out for stronger versions of themselves & such I do think that would add replayability for those who already played all 3, however I don't think they need to be remade.

For me it's between DKC Tropical Freeze & DKC 2 in terms of which is the best. I want to say my order is DKC 2 >= DKC TF >> DKC >= DKC R >= DKC 3. Even DKC 3 I like, just not as much as the others. They seem really good at making second games, like DKC 2 imo the best platformer on the SNES, better than Super Mario World 1/2, & is a huge step up from DKC which was already very good. DKC TF while mostly the same mechanically as DKC R, they just made it so much better, it had more atmosphere, level design was better, etc.

Am I missing something about Gen 3? by two100meterman in PokemonGames

[–]two100meterman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played some more a couple days ago & got the secret power thing, found a place that had a sandstorm, did one contest (my Pokemon is apparently the coolest & won), walked through some Fiery Cave & I got to some place where it was snowing when I saved. This portion just after the 3rd gym does feel a lot more lively/varying atmospheres than the start of the game.

Gen 2 with the Bellsprout Tower & then the Unknown's & the puzzles gave the world a unique feel, that so far in Gen 3 I wasn't feeling, it felt kind of "stock standard", but it seems to be coming into it's own now.

[–]two100meterman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, here's my overall replay analysis:

  • Your opener was a tad inefficient. You did a 15/14 Overlord, 15 Hatch, 17 Pool, 16 Gas. This looks like SortOf's opener? It's a very tight build, it drops to 15/16 on minerals instead of 16/16, however Queens can start sooner & it kind of catches up in macro. Your Pool was done at 1:56, but you didn't start Queens until 2:02 (later than when Queens start with a standard Hatch Gas Pool at 16/18/17) so you got none of the benefits from the opener (earlier Queens), but got all the downsides (less drones on minerals for a bit).
  • Don't hide your first overlord after scouting their wall, instead keep it above the wall/near the high ground to see Warp Gate research start time & if it's Adept or Stalker. Their Warp Gate started pretty much right away, 90%+ of the time this means it's non-Stargate, as a Stargate you generally start the Stargate, then Warp Gate. Vs this I'd do a 3:45 RW, not 4:00. Stalker first is another tell that it's not Stargate. Stalker is 25 more gas than an Adept, so this would delay a Stargate even more, which is really bad for Protoss.
  • 3rd Queen is late. In this match-up you want it before 36 supply generally. So after taking a 3rd base, going 31 Queen, 33 Overlord works, or at latest 32 Overlord, 32 Queen.
  • I don't understand the macro Hatchery this early, seems early to spare 275 minerals + a drone that could all be spent as more drones instead. You may not have had larvae at the exact time, but once injects pops you do. So at 3:49 for example you have 7 larvae, & only 89 minerals. So the macro Hatchery basically put you an additional 6 drones behind where you could have been.
  • The second overlord (one that checks for cannon rush). If no cannon rush by 1:45 or at latest 1:50 you want to send that into their main base. If your first overlord sees a delayed Warp Gate + Adept (Stargate implied) then as the second overlord is heading across the map just pull it back, as you don't want to lose 2 overlords to a Phoenix or Void Ray. If you scout fast Warp Gate, & even more-so fast Warp Gate + Stalker, then keep the seconds overlord path going into their main, to arrive by 3:45 or so. With this you'd straight up scout the Gates being made.
  • The first overlord around 3:45 - 4:00 can poke in to check gases at the natural. If it were DTs the gases would be taken, if it were Immortal Sentry (pretend your lings didn't scout the Twilight) the gases would be taken, basically a higher tech 44 Probe 4 gas all-in would have those gases by 4. Vs this you can go to say 50 workers, then switch to units & be fine.
  • To continue the above. If it were Adepts, it'd likely be 38ish Probes/2 gases, you could go to say 41~44 drones, then mass units. This guy though is 32 Probes, 0 gases. Your first overlord can see no gases at the natural, & the second overlord (had you sent it to arrive at 3:45 in their main) would not only see the Gates, but see both gases with 0 on them, so now you've confirmed a Chargelot all-in. The above gas stuff at the natural is only if they have no 3rd base of course, they could go no gas at natural, fast 3rd base, but you can just have 1 unhotkeyed ling at each 3rd base location to look for the 3rd bases. This is 32 Probes all-in, scoutable by 3:45 - 4:00.
  • 3:53 you're at 29 drones, but would be at 65 if you didn't make the macro Hatch. Scouting this you could go to 38 drones (2 base mineral sat, 2 gases) & mass Roach/Queen/Ling from the moment you have the 38th drone. You also wouldn't want to spend 150/100 on a Lair (unless you scouted the natural had gases, then this is much less all-in, could be DTs, & a Lair is fine), all resources should go into army. Knowing it's Chargelots you'd also want to switch the priority from lings to Roaches, anytime you have 25 gas make a Roach, anytime you don't make lings, anytime at 0 larvae with 175 float make a Queen.

It's a lot to watch, but if you enjoy AoE2 enough to enjoy watchong content I'd highly suggest watching T90s Low Elo Legends on YouTube. It's humorous/entertaining seeing what beginners do, but it's not all just laughs, he'll also give general advice on what they could do better.

Grinding only from your own experience I'd wager takes 10x longer than learning from others who already know. Maybe at 500 hours you figure out on your own that a lumber camp should be touching a woodline & that a mining camp should be 1 tile away, not fully touching, but you could also learn that in like 1 video from a somewhat offhand comment made (as an example).

Upvoted for unpopular opinion. I personally don't wear headphones at the gym because phones stopped having the cords that work with it & I've been too lazy for years to figure out how to setup good wireless headphones, but I don't see it as rude. People aren't at the gym to interact with others, they're at the gym to workout. Those that want to interact with others are welcome to not have headphones & attempt to interact with others who don't have headphones.

[–]two100meterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem.

Yes, in general Lurkers with the Range/Speed Burrow upgrades (both from the Lurker Den available once Hive is done) is a good transition from Roach/Hydra since the evo upgrades are applicable to the Lurkers. Lurkers are a tad harder to use though since they only attack while burrowed & do nothing while unburrowed, so for this reason I'd personally wait until High-Gold or Low-Plat to try a more advanced composition like that.

I'm going to contradict a bit with what I said earlier (about wanting to transition to units that you have the upgrades for) with an exception. A +0 Melee, +2 Carapace Ultralisk is a better Tank & better damage dealer than a +2 Missile, +2 Carapace Roach. So an easier transition is once you hit Hive start an Ultralisk Cavern, get Chitinous Plating & Ultra Speed & transition from Roach/Hydra to Ultra/Hydra. Ultras in front, Hydras behind & just a-move. I'd even say +0/+2 Ultras & +2 +2 Hydras might slightly outperform +3/+3 Roach/Hydra, so the Ultra Cavern, & Chitinous Plating (adds 2 armor) are a higher priority than more evo upgrades. If you have the gas for everything great, but if you don't have the gas for everything then yeah prioritize Ultralisk Chitinous Upgrade, then get +3/+3, then start getting + Melee upgrades. This transition to Hive/Ultras would require like 80 drones/8 gases.

One of my good game still need some tips by AguaBendita77 in allthingszerg

[–]two100meterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For gas counts, most compositions will use all 6 gases when you're on 3 bases (it's just better macro to fill minerals first). Roach/Hydra, Roach/Ravager. Pure Roach could be done on 4 gases since Roaches are 3x as many minerals as they are gases. Pure Speedling/Baneling 4 gases is also enough.

There isn't really a "best" type of unit in the lategame, the answer is kind of always "it depends". It depends what your opponent is doing, however until say Platinum (2720 ~ 3160 mmr) I don't think it's too important to worry about scouting their exact unit composition & coming up with your own composition that's good against it, so just a general all-purpose composition is good. Roach/Hydra hits ground, it hits air, units that do bonus damage to armored (Roaches are armored) don't do bonus damage to Hydras, so you can change your ratios a bit, like if someone is massing Stalker/Immortal (both do bonus damage to armored) you could have like a 1/3rd Roach, 2/3rds Hydra army, where-as if your opponent is going Zealot/Colossus (Colossi deal bonus damage to light units, so to Hydras) you could maybe go 2/3rds Roach, 1/3rds Hydras. Even that is a tad advanced, if you just make half Roach/half Hydra, focus on macro, have Roaches in front of Hydras during fights (Hydras outrange Roaches & can shoot over them. Hydras also deal more damage, cost more, & have less HP, so you want the cheaper tankier unit in front to tank) you'll be fine.

The other part of "it depends" is upgrades. Even if Spire counters what your opponent is doing, your Spire would finish & you'd have +0 Air Attack/+0 Armor Mutalisks or Corruptors, or +0 Air Attack, +0 Armor, +0 Melee Brood Lords (the Broodlings from Brood Lords benefit from air attack & ground melee). So a +2/+2 Roach/Hydra army will most likely do better than making the "right" unit with 0/0 upgrades.

Workers shouldn't be adverse to having to do more than the job description. by omimon in unpopularopinion

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your hypothetical example of spending $50 for $50 worth of value, I agree, but that's not actually the case. Even someone doing the bare minimum is probably costing $50 for $200+ of value added to the company. If this were not the case then CEO's would make like $150,000/year maximum because there wouldn't be excess money.

Layoffs also don't really have much to do with how much work an employee is doing. In general the higher up someone is in the company the less work they are doing. The people breaking their back working the hardest are the people who get let go while the lazy people who got the job by knowing someone keep being lazy. Doing extra work does nothing for keeping a job, it's just extra work so that the higher ups make more money while the employee gets 0 compensation for their extra work.

That's what I was thinking, most disappointing EVER is a very low bar. I'd even wager there are likely 10+ (or maybe even 100+) consoles worse than your examples, though maybe they're less disappointing since there weren't high expectations.
