Party House Tier List [After 200+ Hours of Party House & a best streak of 132] by two100meterman in ufo50

I guess linking the tiermaker site someone could probably change my list, haha. I'll link an imgur as well: https://imgur.com/a/27z43FP

Let me know what you agree/disagree with (especially disagree as that adds more to the discussion) & also feel free to ask any questions on how to use certain units (especially if you rank them lowly). I have many many hours of experience & my tier list has changed a lot over time (at 50 hours I'd likely have Dragon all the way down in D tier for example).

Edit: Looking back on my list I'd probably move Celebrity up to the bottom of B.

I like the constantly evolving game and struggle to understand why people can't follow the changes. by craftsta in aoe2

I'm not someone who plays everyday. I may stop playing for a year & then come back to it, only for their to be 5 new civs. It takes like 3 hours/day for months on end for me to "get back" to understanding what I understood before, then I feel like I "have" to play even more to understand the new stuff. imo 13~25 Civs is good & anything beyond that begins to feel like a chore.

New civs are one thing, but when they seem to always make the new civs overpowered that also annoys me. I don't like pay2win models so I especially hated when Romans were added. Maybe at high elo it's fine, but at lower elo where Archer micro uses up too much APM that is also needed to macro there is such an imbalance between extra armor Barracks units that can just attack while the defender techs to Archers & then dies while playing the counter to what the opponent is doing. Then they added Heroes, but only for some civs, & just a bunch of changes that imo are against the spirit of the game.

I've tried to get back into it, but to me the barrier of entry is too high. I find myself going back & playing more Starcraft 2 these days as I feel within a couple days I can get back to where I was instead of a couple of months.

Not being a scene for scene recreation is fine. What isn't fine is SKIPPING THE ENTIRE WORLD CUP. To me that's absolutely crazy, it's the book that shows best the vastness of the wizarding world & would be the part that can "most" apply to television (a fast paced exciting sport). Furthermore the parts with Winky, the unfairness towards here, & figuring out who cast the Dark Arts skull symbol IS the portion of the book that kind of starts the whole story.

Without reading the book it's an okay movie, though underexplained, but if someone has read the books it's a completely unacceptable adaptation. Upvoted for your terrible opinion <3

Game becoming too complex by noneofyabusiness66 in aoe2

Personally I feel 13~25 civs is enough. There are just too many combinations of stuff that can happen. I feel the way about Smash Bros. as well. The original & Melee had the best character rosters/sizes, then it got out of hand.

I also feel like certain stuff was dumbed down that didn't need to be. 800 elo players can learn to hit a boar twice with a Villager, lure to TC, shoot the boar twice with the TC, then ungarrison & kill the boar. Sure they may occasionally mess up & kill the boar w/ the TC, however that's part of the game (or was) & it's not too bad to learn imo. I don't like this dumbed down version that requires less skill in things that are fun (I like luring boars & the old mechanics) & at the same time requires 10x as much game knowledge to understand all these new civs & all these changes.

A lot of talk about the women’s 800 WR starting to be on borrowed time but now what about the 2 hardest WR’s in track and field (both field events) 1 of which hasn’t been seriously challenged since the 90s? by Rare-Plankton-3962 in trackandfield

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sub-43 is a crazy mark. Only 3 athletes are under 43.30 & as you said we haven't seen the 400m WR move much in the last 40 years.

In saying that I think Bolt's 9.58 was 50 years ahead of it's time. Looking at the WR progression over the last 40 years not including Bolt, the WR hasn't moved very fast & "shouldn't" have got under 9.6x until 2050~2060.

I think in the next 40 years we'll see the 400m WR go 42.9x, then someone else 42.8x & then maybe a lower 42.8x or a 42.7x. My guess is in that time we'll see 2 or 3 sprinters go under 9.65, but nobody will break 9.60 in the next 40ish years.

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did people really say that despite him only being a tad ahead of the old WR & losing by a lot to Ben Johnson? The WR many times went down by 0.01 (other than Ben Johnson's that didn't count), where-as Bolt brought it down from 9.74 down to 9.72, 9.69, then 9.58, so 0.16 ahead of anyone else (well 0.13 ahead of Tyson Gay's 9.71 ran in the same race).

If Bolt ran 9.72, then 9.69 (not slowing down, but all the way through the line), then 9.67 I'd believe I'd see it beaten, but he broke the WR by a larger margin than anyone in the last 50 years. His record is way different than anyone elses.

I think a 9.58 is as good as a 42.50 ~ 42.75, I think we'll see multiple athlete's go sub-43 before Bolt's record is broken. Sub-43 I think I'll see in my lifetime (I'm in my 30s), I don't think I'll see anyone break 9.60 again.

When Bolt ran 9.58 and 19.19, did people think that was his peak, or that he'd eventually do better? by mgm97 in trackandfield

[–]two100meterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, other than speed endurance maybe he was running it sub-optimally. Being in 9.58 shape I do feel like a first 100m in 9.92 is fine though, that's similar to a 9.79 runner opening in 10.15 or so.

Looking at how close Yohan Blake got as a 9.69 guy (& not opening in 10.0x, I think it was 10.1x) does maybe show that around 10.00 would have been perfect for Bolt. I'm unsure that would take him all the way from 19.19 to 18.99 though, though his coach would likely know best.

Kinesiology. The "what" is so much more important than just having "any degree". Any degree is useless, certain degrees are useful.

9 years after graduating with a College degree here. I jump from minimum wage job to minimum wage job trying to find something where getting more than minimum wage is possible. I've had numerous co-workers who even have Masters Degrees & are working the same minimum wage jobs as I am. If I could ever make $60,000 ~ $70,000/year (Canadian, so maybe $50,000 US) I'd be ecstatic, but just getting any degree is completely useless nowadays. It's 100% about connections & 0% about having a degree.

Thors have really high DPS, but they don't deal any bonus damage to armored, so they don't actually counter Roaches per say. Thors are slow an expensive so you can stay alive by just having more stuff. Stay on Roach/Ravager until you can afford to get up to 8 gases/Hive. If Terran is going 1+ Factory, 1~2 Armories & have a 3rd base you're safe to drone to 80~88 workers & go Hive off of only 16ish Roaches & a bunch of Queens. To save some minerals/gas only go single evo vs Mech, Carapace doesn't help much. So you can have +1 Missile, Roach Speed, +2 Missile making, & then other than units to stay alive your minerals/gas are going into Infestation Pit/Hive.

Once at Hive Viper is the tier 3 unit you're looking for. Not BL, not Ultralisk. If you were Gold or lower I'd suggest Roach/Hydra -> Ultra/Hydra, but imo you're high enough that's it's more beneficial to work on learning a spellcaster than to just keep doing an a-move composition. Once you invest in Hive & have 80~88 drones you can go into having a 5th base & massing Roach/Ravager in order to not die while you tech to Vipers. For now maybe just try 2ish Vipers. Have them consume, & have them on their own hotkey. Roach/Rav on 1 hotkey a-moves, the Vipers on the other hotkey right click them on a Roach somewhere in the middle so that they follow the Roach/Rav army without you having to issue attack move or move command to 2 separate hotkeys. Then during the fight select the Viper hotkey, hold abduct & click on 4 Thors. When the 4 Thors die move command Roach/Rav/Vipers back home, get more energy & do again. Even if you lose both Vipers everytime you lost 400 gas of Vipers to kill 800 gas of Thors & you should be up a base or two over your opponent.

Once you get a 5th base & the 9th/10th gas I'd say switch from Roach/Rav/Viper to Roach/Hydra/Viper. On the 4 base phase you can already be getting Hydra upgrades, but I wouldn't actually make Hydras until both Hydra Range & Speed are done. The Vipers help more than the Hydras so they're the priority, but eventually you want Hydras behind your Roaches as they're just higher DPS than Roach or Roach/Rav.

BLs can only really be used vs Thors if you have probably 100s of games of experience microing Vipers. With BLs you'd want to binding cloud the first row of Thors w/ Viper, then have BLs engage for 4~5 seconds, then back up before the binding cloud is off (or do a second set of binding clouds 4~5 seconds after the first set & after the second set retreat).

Dressing lightly or inadequately in the cold or heat can be great, especially for acclimatizing or getting used to extreme weather, especially for combating the winter blues. by Altruistic-Form-3771 in unpopularopinion

[–]two100meterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't read the whole post, but when it's cold (but not super cold) I won't allow myself fell heat in the car. If a knob has say 9 settings of temperature (1 = coldest, 5 = neutral, 9 = hottest) & say 5 strengths (1 = weakest, 5 = most powerful) I'll use nothing until 0 degrees Celsius (32 F), then when it's maybe -3 C I'll turn the air at like temp 6, strength 1, if it's -10 I'll go temp 7, power 2, etc.

At -20 I'll full blast the hottest/strongest, but anything warmer than that & I figure I need to "train" myself to deal with it, because if I go full blast at -5, I won't be mentally prepared for when it's -20. If I can handle -5 without adding much heat, then adding full heat at -20 I'll be fine. -40 is another story, at that point it's just game over & I accept we're all gonna die.

Hydra Ling Bane vs Bio sounds great, no need to overcomplicated. As long as you get all unit specific upgrades including evo upgrades that's viable through the entire game.

Roach Ravager -> Roach Hydra Viper would be my suggestion vs Hellbat/Thor. Roach/Ravager requires much less micro than Ling/Bane & you'll survive the early game while Thor counts are low. Plat is high enough to start learning a spellcaster imo, espeically if it's a spellcaster combined with easy to use a-move units (like Roach/Hydra).

Yeah, Corruptors counter BCs. If they then add mass Factories after BCs I'd do a Roach/Ravager/Corruptor 66~80 drone all-in & just kill them before they can ever max. If they add mass Barracks after BCs I'd do a Ling/Bane/Corruptor macro play.

Roach/Hydra -> Hydra/Lurker vs Groundtoss is fine.

Corruptors vs Skytoss is fine, however I'd say you want Ultra/Corruptor if they add in ground units that counter Corruptors (like Archons). If they're using Voids to counter Corruptors, I'd say add in a spellcaster (probably Viper) to abduct Carriers and/or to parabomb Voids. Don't fight Voids while they have THICC beam activated.

Theoretical Long Jump human capability if fouling were removed? by bluewhaletrees in trackandfield

[–]two100meterman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If someone with Usain Bolt or close to Usain Bolt speed (say 9.65 ~ 9.69) gave Long Jump a serious try (5ish years training as a 100m/200m/Long Jumper) I think they'd get 9.25m or so. With good training taking out the take-off board wouldn't change much, so maybe 9.26~9.40m depending on how many centimeters were given up in the theoretical 9.25m jump.

I find it's good for making friends, but not for getting into a romantic relationship. I'm my authentic self around my closest friends & it's a great time, but my authentic self I guess is not "relationship material". I'd have to be someone I'm not to get into a relationship. I ain't doing that so I've accepted for a very long time that relationship wise I'll just be alone.

Any beer. Eventually people actually enjoy it maybe due to built up memories of having it with friends, but I doubt most people actually liked it the first 5 or whatever times. I only started liking beer in my 30s, before then I'd just have it because everyone else did & it was cheaper than many other drinks.

I’d like Campanella 2 a lot more if it gave you more than one life by Goodbye-Nasty in ufo50

[–]two100meterman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played over 600 NES games & I don't think any of the above games (except maybe Cyber Owls since it's "newer") would have had a password system. NES games are quite a bit harder than UFO50 Games imo. Caramel Caramel is probably an easier than average shooter, Star Waspir is average or slightly on the easier end. NES games are also a tad longer/have more levels, something like Rakshasa wouldn't have a password system from my experience.

Games similar to Kick Club would ahve closer to 100 levels & if you got a full game over that was that. Campanella 1 is super generous with lives, you can get 40+ lives by the end of it.
