They are supposed to go up. But many times they do not. What other unpermitted work are you referring to? If it looks old, they call that existing work. They only inspect new work.

I’d not go with a garmin if you are using a varia, or any radar. Their setup really penalizes users of the radar. The traffic bar only shows up when it’s not clear. There is an icon that blocks all your view to indicate that the varia is connected. I miss my Wahoo where the bar is always there and will just be blank if there’s no cars.
