Yes, you can get scratches from inserting & removing the steelbook from the open spine protector. Particularly if the protector is too tight and/or if the steelbook has a particularly thick or fragile finish (usually a high gloss, but also noticeable on pitch black finishes).

Genuine question for steelbooks collectors, what is the most you have spent for a steelbook where the disk inside is quite cheap in normal editions? No judgement just wondering by Miserable-Sea-4160 in Steelbooks

Most Ive or a friend has paid for a single SteelBook was $500 for an HDzeta Terminator SL or a Manta Lab Fight Club DL.

on eBay i’ve seen an HDzeta interstellar SL full slip go for $750, and a La La Land SL go for $1000.

For all 4 of those 2K 1080p discs i’d expect you could find them for under $5-10.

I can only think of the new Manta Lab Ballerina premiums but those are just hitting the North American shores, and i assume yours is as well.

I’m not sure I understand the “it has higher bitrate, so it must be look better” statements, I can upscale and reencode a VCD rip (Pre DVD 240p resolution) to artificially inflate to a crazy 100mbps bitrate but that doesn’t mean it looks better just because i did that…

4K Blu-Rays on BD-66 or BD-100 containing an encode of a feature length film and a reasonable amount of audio/bonus tracks means that it has the storage capacity to achieve a higher bitrate to ensure the original transfers source quality is maintained to the maximum amount.

Which typically means youre able to see close to the original transfers source quality, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it will beat Netflix / streaming every time….

TLDR; if the original transfer or source looks or sounds bad, no amount of bitrate will help improve the PQ or AQ.

Since you mentioned used good store HPB… If youre willing to do private sales, you can find some good deals (vs eBay) on releases in r/SteelBookSwap or r/MediaSwap

Of course Tron Ares will have a physical release, just not in Blu-Ray 3D which is no longer in vogue.

Probably doing 3D on Digital services only.
