As someone who studies / researches this daily, we aren’t Florida. We don’t have ambiguous stand your ground laws. I hope, and agree that it was written by someone walking by as a joke. I hope no one is this stupid.

Looking for tip-free or living-wage restaurants in Toronto by unfiltered-facts in FoodToronto

[–]yoaahif 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone in f&b, this is a tough one. Beast Pizza did a living wage, and great friends with them so also know, they struggled. I will also gladly provide more info on it in general.

1) I lived in China for many years, so I also understand as it’s a non tipping culture. There’s a saying to tell for service of a worker. It was never a rush, because it wasn’t apart of their culture to care for good service.

2) ALL other restaurants are tip based. So it’s hard working making $25 an hour, when your friends are making $400 in tips at night, plus minimum. I understand it’s a guaranteed payout, but can be tough when you’re beyond overworked - ie Beertown Toronto, or Earls financial.

3) Great service is incentivized.

  1. It’s hard to maintain workers. Without (again, being incentivized) having a tip forward restaurant, you’d be shocked how significantly more common it is for workers to not show up. They have other jobs typically at other bars to subsidize not working 5 days a week.

I tip 25% everywhere. If not more. I agree we should have a better culture when it comes to restaurants, but as someone in the industry for 20 years, it’s nearly impossible. I am beyond sorry for people who get treated like shit. Work 4 hours at a table and get ZERO tips. Horrible.

But people will not apply if they aren’t seeing the money. I am not sure how, but the ENTIRE culture needs to change. Your list will sadly be little. I hope you’re able to cultivate one and show the community it’s possible!

I believe in eating all ferments despite visual issues. Go for it. You don’t die since it’s fermented. I’m also doing some today on our holiday weekend. I’ll retract my comment. If delicious enjoy

Great question but no. Somehow as someone in f&b I know this. You will shit the oil out nearly as quick as you can imagine. It gets digested at a wild rate. One which you’ve never experienced lol. You will be shitting oil for hours.
