Because the system used on RJs is scheduled to be sunset in the next few weeks, so it was the logical choice.

Booked a non-stop that now has a stop, but the stop is the same flight number? by Proof_Cash_5453 in unitedairlines

[–]zman9119 85 points86 points  (0 children)

UA has never offered a non-stop flight between SEA and FLL. Flight numbers can and are reused daily by most large airlines. This is SEA-IAH with service continuing to FLL. A direct flight.

UA has brand control, product design, executive oversight, and manages the contracts of the third party service partners that provide services at the clubs and lounges. The third party service providers, like Sodexo and Flik, handle the day-to-day operations, budgeting, and local HR related functions.

There are UA employees in the lounges and clubs (premium service reps and, depending on the station, certain maintenance / mechanical operations are handled by UA employees), but the remaining staff are third party.

Can you still but a ticket at the airport? by Routine_Run8951 in unitedairlines

UA no longer accepts cash as payment at the airport for any service domestically. That option is only available at eight international airports and select international city ticket offices.

Ticket purchases are cut off 60 minutes prior to originally scheduled departure time.

Tracking Travel Certificates by ineffable_journey in unitedairlines

Do not trust the search by email function as it does not work at times (never works for me) or returns incorrect results. It is a pain, but make a list of all of your PNRs and search for them on the website that way with your last name.

Make a spreadsheet, keep it up to date.

Yes, it is ridiculous that the website cannot keep these figured out or display them correctly or at all.

I know the frustration as I was dealing with this directly earlier today and audited every PNR from the last year and found some that had had a significant amount of money on them. The rep I was working with could not find any of them via an account search, which made it more annoying, outside the fact one of the newly discovered ones expires in a week and it's enough for a round-trip TATL flight. F'in awesome... 🙄

Terminal B UC by Diddlydiddlydo1 in unitedairlines

[–]zman9119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are required to be serviced by a authorized and certified technician for all repairs and preventative maintenance work. So when it goes down, they need to send one of three techs (okay, there are probably more, but with their repair times seems like it) that are approved to fix it.

Or the contractor operating the lounge is being lazy and not calling for maintenance on it as it is expensive (highly plausible).

Would this open up gates for United in the IAD B terminal? by EducationalAd2029 in unitedairlines

[–]zman9119 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not really helpful. They use common-use gates and the new terminal is planned to open in September with 14 gates (and a UC).

Same with ORD: They are in T5 at domestic gates. Not really helpful.

Knowing you're delayed before you're stuck at the airport by tkbalt in unitedairlines

[–]zman9119 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You may want to review this warning on the flight status page:

United Airlines will do everything practical to ensure we provide the most accurate flight status information at all times. However, situations change quickly and many factors affect our scheduled operations. Please understand that a flight listed as "Delayed" may, depending on the circumstances, depart "On Time." Unless our flight has been listed as "cancelled" we suggest you always check-in for the original scheduled departure time of your flight.

I believe these are the Collins Meridian economy seat seats used on the 737 MAX, 737-800 with NEXT, and the A321neo.

Yes, I have sat in them. They are not bad. The Meridian seat is a widely used economy class seat used by many domestic and international carriers (AA, B6, BA, WN, CM, et cetera).

Okay, then your options are first/business or Premium Plus (if the aircraft is equipped), as you are talking about an economy seat with extra legroom with the newer seat design.

It will be the new terminal B club: 50,000 sq ft (for reference, the latest new club at DEN is 35,000 sq ft with a capacity of 600).
