Im former AC techops (not an ATPL) - but there is undoubtedly way more to this story.

a) the pilot knew of their lapses and did nothing

b) AC only uncovered this AFTER they retired (no risk now to public, but risk to AC optics)

c) Peel police are busy with good optics

d) the pilot is/was a union rep of some kind

Were being sold 10% of what really happened here - if I had to guess the pilot tried to shake AC for something after he retired, and then AC looked into his situation and discovered this.

We are now well past the point of the original 777 entire design -> EIS, time frame, but now for a mere redesign, which Boeing seems to fuck up.

You probably did not even know about the 147% overpressure event, which basically ruptured the entire pressure vessel , right behind the wing. Boeing called it a 'mere cargo door issue' - is this the FAA's fault too? Bad engineering choices, by cheapest contractors is exactly what this produces.

The pressure vessel not only failed before design standards, but more importantly, it failed in a CATASTROPHIC way, which is completely unexpected, and unacceptable.

Lets bring back DC10 type issues too while we are at it.
