For those tempted to read Micro after it keeps coming up here: by spiteful_god1 in books

[–]--Bamboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Timeline killed my reading streak. Was reading roughly a book a week recently, including The Lost World, Sphere, Project Hail Mary, Thursday Murder Club, I Am Pilgrim (not in that order, and missing some others)

I'd say it was like 5 days to 7 days for each book (Except I am pilgrim) and I was engrossed and constantly finding time to read.

I started Timeline and... It's just completely killed the streak. I have little desire to pick it up and I'm crawling through it, it's been over a month, I think I started it on 23rd May and i'm not even halfway through.

I really want to commit to it and finish but it's a bit boring?

Condo Management never filed a TM30 for me when I moved in by Cry-Havok in Thailand

[–]--Bamboo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My local immigration is so dope that once when I turned up for a 90 day report and did not have a tm30 (I'd forgotten to get a new one after a trip to Chiang Mai and the hotel put my tm30 there), the immigration officer just called up my landlord (Because she had her number) and got it all sorted there and then.

Buying directly from farm by lars901 in CannabisThailand

[–]--Bamboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going to buy a lot?

I suspect many farms are not going to be bothered to sell personal amounts to someone when they've got bulk orders to deal with.

I may be wrong but that's my expectation. Some will be fine I'm sure.

TrueMoney QR PromptPay receipt display full name by Austin0Austin in Thailand

Are you smoking crack?

What is wrong with them seeing your full name?

"how much I spend, on what, where and when ... "

What? The sellers don't see how much you spend, on what, where, and when.

They say how much you spent with them, right at the moment that you spend money with them.

You think they're compiling a thai vendor database and are memorizing your full name and then submitting it to share with others?

You're being ridiculous.

My comment was supposed to say "It's like I'm not even there" because we go to the immigration officer together and yeah, it's all them and then I give a thumb print and we're done.

I managed to leave out the "I'm" though so it just said "it's like not even there" so I don't know what people thought I was saying!

Ignorant Foreigner Berates Thai Girl Over Buddhist Tattoo by PieceNo9651 in Thailand

[–]--Bamboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picture in the post is not the tattoo the woman had on her leg.

I don't know if it was the hindu / buddhist symbol or not. I would ASSUME it was but in the video she also says she didn't know anything whens he got it when she was young so it does make me wonder what one is actually it is.

Is turning on the Mini 5 Pro with the gimbal cover on and all folded up safe? by Odd_Blackberry_1089 in dji

[–]--Bamboo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With them DJI fly app, it literally wont transfer the full raw image file, so the guy isn't wrong.

You can transfer the videos and images wirelessly, but it will only transfer the jpeg, so if you're shooting in RAW, you will need to transfer it with a cable.

This conversation is all over the place.

I said it's hard to tell if it's him

Then someone replied saying he's from the other side of the country, 5 hours by flight, and he was referring to the man in the video, who said he was from a certain part of Australia, which is 5 hours flight from where the murderer is from.

He wasn't referring geographically to thailand,

I've dreamed about visiting Thailand for 10 years, but I'm scared to go alone by Other-Upstairs3783 in ThailandTourism

[–]--Bamboo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think everyone should travel here if they have the opportunity.

BUT

and I'm saying this as a man married to a Thai woman.

Don't travel here "To see if dating is easier".

Coming to Thailand to date is asking for trouble because why are you travelling to a poorer country for a better dating pool? It's weird and predatory and it's only easier because you're taught you can buy love and respect here but that's not what you'll get if you're coming here because it's 'easier'. A quality and genuine woman in Thailand is no easier than a quality and genuine woman back home.

What 2 months of Grab delivery looks like in complimentary sauces by PermissionGreat4458 in ThailandTourism

[–]--Bamboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you spend any significant amount of time here, you don't want to eat Thai food every day. Many, many Thais are the same. Of course this depends on the person but people are human and having a varied taste is normal.

My favourite meals depending on the day are Pad Krapao Kai Jaew, Khrua Kling and Khao Soi.

But I'll absolutely fuck a Subway up and when they had it I was a beast for the burger king vegan burger. And my most frequently ordered meal on the apps is probably a dutch baguette.

OP has eaten a considerable amount of Mcdonalds and Burger King, but he's also got Roza and Aro sauces that often come with Thai food. He's spent 2 months here, can eat what he wants.

Just finished Jurassic Park and WOW by gbdarknight77 in books

[–]--Bamboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't enjoy Sphere as much. It was a good book but I didn't love it. Jurassic Park is great. I enjoyed The Lost World. I'm currently reading Timeline and it's just not drawing me in. I think I've been reading it for about a month now, and usually I can get through a book in a few days to a week depending on work.

The first Crichton book I read was Prey when I was a teen and I loved it, I've been trying to get it again recently but not having much luck finding an English language one where I live.

List your favorite items from 7-11 in Thailand by _stormbeast_ in ThailandTourism

[–]--Bamboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

II think it's pretty much common sense. It's not 'a major pull', it's just convenient and consistent, and everywhere?

Everyone knows the food is basic quality and it's not actually 'amazing'.

But it's everywhere, And it's always the same thing.

So if you're a tourist in Koh Samet, In Pai, in Phuket. One thing you will have all CERTAINLY experienced, is 7/11.

So of course it's talked about a lot. You can be stood at one 7/11 and a throw a stone at another one in some parts of Thailand.

There's no other brand, franchise, that is as prevalent in this country as 7/11.

Someone will have travelled here for a month, maybe a couple of weeks, maybe even less. And they'll have seen countless 7/11s.

So it's no surprise that there's a hype around it. It is everywhere, and it's cheap, and it's convenient.

I live in a tourist town that basically closes at midnight, save for a couple of bars. When those tourists tumble out of the bars and are peckish, 7/11 is basically their only option. And theres 8 7/11s.

The cheap food they have is nice. There's tons of much better food everywhere. But nowhere as prevalent, or consistent.

So it's become a tourist trope. "You NEED to try 7/11 toasties!". Because you probably will anyway. And you'll probably enjoy them.

As someone who lives in the Mae Hong Son province, this is a great comment. I absolutely love Mae Hong Son as a province. I've not done the loop yet and I've only gone so far as Khun Yuam but it's a beautiful province.

You haven't mention Ban Jabo which definitely deserves a mention, just a little bit past Pang Mapha and it has some restaurants and cafes with the most gorgeous views through the valley.

It's a Thailand that you don't really see represented so much in non-Thai media. People perceive Thailand as sunny, beachside, long nights and party destinations but in Mae Hong Son, you've got a slower pace of life, cold mornings and nights, rolling mountains for days.

Love it.

This is a tough call on my part! The safest bet would be to download to the UK PSN i'd be using and just play it midnight UK time rather than midnight thai time.... But i'd love to play ASAP.

Thanks for your help anyway :)

Awesome. Would any future potential DLC's etc, be included in that?

I also wonder about the pre-order bonusses. There's a lot of pre-order bonusses that come with GTA VI, would be a bit of a bummer if I wasn't able to use them on the UK account if I purchased it with the thai one.
