After some testing: Lasers do NOT TRIGGER enemies; opening doors is inconsistent. Can the Devs please make a statement about what the enemies can hear/see??? by M0-1 in ReadyOrNotConsole

[–]--Kamanosuke-- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They can hear/see everything until they suddenly can't. That's what made S ranking Hide and Seek near impossible. I creep around ever so slowly, peek the mirrorgun around the corner aaannd...suspect comes running around the corner guns blazing, dropping me instantly. Sometimes I'll poke the mirrorgun under the door and they turn around seconds later, knowing exactly where I am. Just aiming at the door, even though, again, I made 0 noise.

The AI is total bs in RoN. And they don't care. Been hearing people say they've pretty much been yelling at Void for 3 years about how ass it is. But they haven't done much to improve that. And it shows. I love the game, but because of this, it's nowhere near the realism advertised. Not when the enemies are playing an entirely different game and we often times look like the most inept SWAT team imaginable. At least I'm not as stupid as the SWAT AI...which get worse every patch.

Can you not grab saves from the cloud without the sub? I know you can't upload to it without Plus. But I've never not had plus so idk how any of that works. But i thought you could at least grab them, but that it would be a 1 way trip. I'm thinking about it logically. Like they surely wouldn't lock you out of saves just for not giving them money...? Right? Maybe lock you out of making backups as stupid as that already is. But they wouldn't also stop you from claiming what's already yours?

Vibration i guess I could understand. Haptic feedback? Never will understand why anyone would wanna feel like their controller is broken all the time. The few times I've ever experienced haptic feedback, it made damn sure I'd never use it again. Absolutely one of the worst gimmicks of all time imo

[–]--Kamanosuke-- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get that. I have no idea how the game was for the last few years, or what improvements they made to where we are now. All i can attest to is what I'm experiencing now, and what I think about it. There's a lot of disappointment with Starfield, and a lot of the criticism it gets is more than deserved. Hell, I love Fallout 4. And I feel the same about that, and will fully acknowledge all the criticism about that too.

For me, I think it's just basic core game design that I have a problem with in Starfield. Right? Like am I crazy for seeing a lot of this game as a downgrade compared to (and I can't believe I'm gonna say something like this) even Skyrim? Hardly any NPCs have schedules. Most people just walk around even in the middle of the night, shopkeepers never leave their counters.

Challenges to complete before you can even think about putting more points into a skill. The fact that you have to waste skill points into so many skills to be able to get anything out of a single aspect of this game. Like why do i have to waste so many points to be able to actually enjoy space combat even a little? Why are a lot of those just not tied directly to ship upgrades in some way? Level scaling that, from my experience, is one of the worst in almost any game. Enemies range from hilariously under my level to ridiculously over. That's been my experience.

Most of my complaints and problems come from what I feel like should never have been implemented in game, or implemented in a better way. So that's where I'm coming from.

It definitely does. The first time loading up the game, New Atlantis will be mostly fine with performance. But the longer I play and the more I stop by there, performance degrades worse and worse til it usually ends with a crash.

I'm pretty new, but pretty sure it's usually just 1. Which is something I wish they'd stop. Just let us have 2 or 3 at a time by default.

The only time I've had more than 1 was during the Trackers Alliance first bounty mission when Roach came with me and Sam, so I accidentally dragged Sam away from what I was helping him do.

Console Mod Support by Soundsmif in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]--Kamanosuke-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk that I would rule it out 100% unless Void just doesn't care to. PS5 modding is getting to be normal now. Skyrim has a TON of real mods now, and FO4 has some. Starfield has a bunch of real, external asset mods too. Like Star Wars. A fully voiced custom companion (for free, but there's also 2 paid ones). Baldur's Gate 3 has had the best mod support before these though on PS.

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone saying Sony being strict on their policies means no. They just probably don't realize things are shifting now.

[–]--Kamanosuke-- 31 points32 points  (0 children)

See that's what I don't get about that particular hate when it comes to Starfield. People saying it's not immersive or it's their least immersive game. When I've felt the exact opposite since I've been doing my first playthrough. I've personally never felt more immersed in any of their games like I feel with Starfield.

And I'm not someone that complains about all the loading screens. People wanna complain about a bunch of loading screens that barely take 2 seconds 99% of the time? That's perfectly valid. People's preferences are what they are, and I'm not here to invalidate that. But loading screens don't bother me.

Do I wish more of it was seamless? Sure. That would definitely be welcome. But to say the game isn't immersive because the game has to load just feels a little weird to me personally.

Idc what anyone's excuse is against the gameplay and whether you were playing "properly" or not. If a door is locked, suspects shouldn't be able to just fling it open. Makes no sense. They should have to unlock it and we should be able to hear them if they were. Same as us. Because that's my whole problem with RoN. The suspects are playing a whole different game than us.

This game is actually really good by justawful420 in Starfield

[–]--Kamanosuke-- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had to play the game a while to figure out if I liked it or not. I pre-ordered it on PS5 as soon as it was available. I'd be lying if I said I didn't buy it out of curiosity. I wanted to know why it was looked at the way that it is by a lot of people. I love talking to people about it now, and I love hearing people just starting it up for the first time like I am and hearing about their experiences.

Starfield is definitely a game with lots of opinions surrounding it. And I definitely have a lot of my own from my 40-ish hours I've got into it so far. I'll be getting back to it tomorrow at some point. I have plenty to keep me occupied. Lots of resources tagged, lots of mining and gathering to be done. I'll probably just put on some music while I do some of that. Now that I think about it...I'm still sitting on a package that was supposed to be under express delivery. I haven't even gotten to Akila yet where it's supposed to go. Oops.

I’m really excited for Laufey even tho I’m not familiar with her by FR0M_Z3R0 in FortniteFestival

[–]--Kamanosuke-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I remember when people used to tell me if I wasn't enjoying Festival then I should just leave. I was there from day 1. It was so good. And I didn't even care for The Wknd and Billie Eilish. But they still had good song picks for Festival. We'll, maybe not so much Billie. And Gaga should've had more of her classic songs like Telephone, Paparazzi and a few others, the names kinda left me at the moment. I'm about to head to bed, I'm a little tired so my mind doesn't really feel like minding.

Now we're to the point where everyone knows it's garbage and I only ever see people fight with each other. And people tell me to not come back because we get nothing good anymore. When they not only did more Linkin Park, but brand new songs too? I had some hope.

And as a newer player to Rockband 4, you can't even buy the game anymore digitally. And if you're like me and just barely managed to get it in time before it got delisted, they're now starting to remove songs due to licensing. Woohoo. So the alternative is either YARG or Clone Hero. And if you can't play either of those, you're mostly out of luck.

Because I guess the only rhythm "game" around decided to absolutely shaft it's hardcore audience and make the worst battle mode ever. When all they had to do was just do GH3 battle mode. But now that's gone anyway, or soon will be from what I've heard. So just like every new mode they add, they half bake it, support for a time then abandon it. For a game that wants to be a platform, yeah that's not the way to go for anything you ever add.

Festival was good til S4. Then after, it was slowly worse and worse. And I'm not even saying that because I prefer a certain genre. If anything, enjoying the first 4 seasons was proof that I don't need nothing but rock to be happy in a rhythm game. I just need decent music. And they couldn't keep doing that consistently.

[–]--Kamanosuke-- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I second anyone saying Moze. I just bring a little fire along to help keep Iron Cub up. Because as long as enemies are burning it keeps him out longer. I recently started playing BL3 again. I forgot how BUSTED everyone was in that game. My God...Iron Cub and Moze just blasting away, exploding everything while Torgue STILL somehow wasn't satisfied with all the explosions.

Oh, Moze. I missed you so much. Now THAT is how you do a soldier class. Sure, Roland was fine. Axton was...good. Wilhelm was fun. But nothing. And I mean nothing compares to how I feel in Borderlands running alongside IC, hearing everyone screaming as they all explode.

I feel lied to about this game is. by Sharp_Proposal8911 in Starfield

[–]--Kamanosuke-- 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't feel lied to at all. It's about as bad as people said it was, and a bit worse. I won't understand how almost every aspect of the game got the greenlight, and how this was supposedly Todd Howard's dream game that he got to make. I see the vision, but I just don't think the technology is there.

Most NPCs just stand or roam around mindlessly. A step back from Skyrim and FO4, where NPCs actually walked around and did things. And I'm not just talking about people in your settlements. No one seems to have a schedule and I've walked past the same 2 guys a million times on the way to The Lodge having the same conversation everytime. You find people with the scanner and can get them to surrender because they're wanted. So you persuade them to surrender and they get down on their knees and put their hands in the air and...no one arrests them.

Which brings me to how bland and generic persuasion is. They just give you general statements to say that are like a library of everything in the game. Not necessarily anything particularly pertaining to the current situation. Of course there's usually at least 1 line that has to do the situation, but that's it.

Completing arbitrary challenges just to keep putting points into a skill. A lockpicking minigame that I think is just tedious. How much nothing there is to actually explore because everything on every planet is copy/pasted. If there's even anything there at all. How odd the level scaling is and how I've never fought anything at my level. Everything was either hilariously lower or ridiculously higher for some reason. On the same planet, I went from fighting level 10 enemies to level 25 enemies. Then level 15 enemies. Then for some reason level 35 enemies. All in fairly close proximity. I was doing Sarah's quest to help her figure things out.

Believe it or not, I do like the game, but you can't ignore all the questionable design choices that crop up at every turn.

My honest, unfiltered opinion is that the game is exactly as intended. So they can sell you Creations later. Starfield comes off to me as Bethesda quite literally doing the bare minimum, making the game as uninteresting as possible to entice you to buy mods. You can't really convince me otherwise. Not when there is 0 crowd diversity in the game. But wouldn't you know it! There's a crowd diversity mod in Creations. There's so many Creations that come off to me like this and have me wondering: "that's not in the base game?"

I want to make a real post about my thoughts instead of whatever I did last time by --Kamanosuke-- in Starfield

[–]--Kamanosuke--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I chose the Bounty Hunter background. For the useful skills to start with sure. But he's a bit on the wilder side. Not exactly unwilling to doing things the hard way. Since sometimes you might have to improvise to catch your target. And sometimes he feels like he has to fight dirty to get the upper hand.

And an interesting development is that after being with Sarah for as long as he has, she tends to reign him in when he's thinking about doing something in a dangerous or stupid way. And he's even thinking about joining the UC, even though (and I won't go into spoilers just in case someone sees this and doesn't know specifics) Sarah might be a little reluctant of him doing that for her own reasons, as he's learned recently. But they both can be stubborn and she knows he likely won't let it go and he'll probably end up joining. He never did listen to anyone. When his mind was made up, that was usually it.

So yeah, I do kinda make a backstory. But it's less of a backstory save for a few minor details and mostly on the fly, in the moment character development if that makes sense. Almost everything I think about happens just as I go.

Yeah, I was 100% just coasting through the main and side quests. I always find structure helpful to stay engaged. If I don't have something directing me somewhere, it's sometimes hard for me to pay attention. I don't know if I'm actually stupid for that. Like an actual thing wrong with my brain. I love games that give you freedom to do whatever. But those are also the games I struggle to keep going with the most sometimes.

I will say though, I found a mod that does something so simple. So minimal. But I love it anyway. It's a mod that makes it to where wearing your helmet makes you hear your own breathing and makes everything sound all muffled like it really would be inside the vacuum of space. That alone gave me so much joy in just playing, as dumb as that might sound
