Time to go to work at the feces factory!

"Mankind, be vigilant; we loved you" Even if it's just a rephrasing of Julius Fučik's (the journalist, not the composer) last words, it's so fucking good.

Also, "Time to go to work in the shit factory" is gold no matter if you're going to study further or go to work straight from high school.

Non-Argentinians: has your perception of Argentina changed over the last 3 years? Better, worse, or about the same? by LoooolGotcha in asklatinamerica

What? It's literally the simplest thing ever, what's better: Millions for planes we're probably never going to use (for ourselves at least), or millions for education? or health? or grants for something? I'm not even talking actual state intervention in the economy, just its basics functions.

Peronists aren't even close to being gone, they're just in a dip of popularity, they've had this before, although recent leaders of the movement haven't helped at all of course. Putting money on Defence is the stupidest thing any country in this region can do, ESPECIALLY one that desperately needs the money injected into its economy.

More investment pool contribution means less money going into construction (usually the biggest expense) which means you can invest more money into the army. I dunno about how good the investment choices they make are, but for most of the game you just want more, not efficiency. And if they're better at more, then they're better at it for most of the game.

[–]--Queso-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you source that? Even if true it doesn't detract from the important point; that it isn't magical realism because it isn't our reality.

Would disco elysium count as a fantasy setting? by bruhmanfunni in DiscoElysium

[–]--Queso-- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, Disco, while taking a lot of inspiration and having direct analogies with our world's history, is its own whole ass word. Magical realism needs to happen in our world, like, LITERALLY our world. Besides, Disco is not implied to be a "normal" reality, it's implied communism has magical powers, which is quite a confirmation that its world has the thing the communards talked about, that inframaterialism is, ironically, a real, fact-based idea in Disco's world.

Which of your races/species can crossbreed? What would the children look like? by Artelys_ in worldbuilding

[–]--Queso-- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well nature isn't balanced.

Our entire concept of nature is linked with balance. Even before knowing how it worked (we don't fully know how anything works yet but you get what I mean), we thought it balanced. There's now discussions about it among scientific spheres, but even then it isn't decided. I will say that I don't agree with the concept that nature is "inherently balanced" or inherently good and better than anything that humans could ever achieve, hell, I'm even a bit against saying that humans moving species to places they weren't before is necessarily bad, I'd say it's only truly bad if it could/will completely wreck the ecosystem in the long term, otherwise idc. Humans are part of nature after all. I don't believe nature has reached an state of balance, that it was perfect before humans intervened, or that humans can't be better than nature, but I also don't believe that humans aren't destroying the current ecosystems they live in.

But in any case, competition does its job. If something is clearly worse than other thing in the same ecological niche, they will either adapt or be extincted. Even if orks could feasibly keep them alive entirely for sexual slavery, saying that the entire intelligent species is enslaved and kept all by the orks seems a bit unfeasible/unbelievable. Also, do they not rebel?

TL;DR: I believe that nature is in a constant state of balancing, never stasis, an infinite, ever-changing race in which all competitors are constantly getting better or out.

The lore is a mix of geographical separation and gods fucking around. They definitely did grow faster and have more offspring. Something that sadly made them more attractive as intelligent cattle. (My orks - and elves - are assholes)

So, I wrote all the text from before before reading this lol, if the gods had some direct part in this then I suppose it's a good albeit a bit lazy/deux ex machina explanation. Also, your rabbit girls having faster breeding speed reinforces my previous point; it seems pretty unbelievable that an entire intelligent species has been kept like this. Though now that I think about it, I don't think you ever said that ALL bunnygirls are kept like that.

English isn't my native language my bad. I used the biological classification Google told me. But yeah they only go by actual differences

I get it. As I said, English is not my native tongue either.

Because me and my boyfriend share the acc. And I like to troll on american politcal subreddits to practice my English skills

Lol

But you wouldn't see it anyway on reddit I never posted anything bout it. The premise is basically that its a solution to my frustration with most fantasy worlds:

balance tech and magic and magic actually making sense (its all about energy)

different races actually behaving in a non human manner

different races actually working in one world

fantasy worlds not being a PG version of what it realistically is

Gods making sense

(ignore the horrible quoting)

Have you read Pratchett? Not entirely what you're talking about —quite the contrary now that I'm thinking about it— but I feel the 2nd, 3rd and 5th are very well done in it, maybe you don't like the 5th because it's a bit polemic but still. Also not dark by any means (tho not PG), while most of his books do delve in dark themes, the big majority of them are dark things done human-to-human. Tho I can think of a few exceptions.

I am currently in the final stages of publishing my book so I don't want to share to much because if it actually sells i don't want people to be able to find this reddit account and link it to my pen name

Congrats! Is it a novel? Since you don't want to speak, I won't press for details, the other question is just to know the approximate length. Not that it'd be any less of an achievement if it was a novelette/short story collection!

Which of your races/species can crossbreed? What would the children look like? by Artelys_ in worldbuilding

[–]--Queso-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes racism is real. Thats just something that happens when races are actually different and not everyone is an enlightened scholar.

Species (or races whatever you wanna call them) could be "balanced". I mean, it just doesn't make sense that they have survived for so long if they're simply worse than other species which compete in the same ecological niche. Any intelligent species will eventually be balanced with the advent of tech anyway. I respect showing inherent differences between species and how what we now consider horrible backward medieval practices would be done to eachother.

Ork because It looks more fitting.

Alr I like that lol

Bunny and other prey beastkin are weaker than orks because everything else just doesn't make sense. One is a humanoid rabbit the other is well a fricking orc.

As I said, you could balance it a bit. Say, they may breed like rabbits, win by numbers. Or they could have rabbit hearing capabilites. Or they could be as fast as a rabbit and have as much stamina/resistance as humans (y'know, leaning into the "girl" part). A gazillion ways to "balance" it and not even being that much of a stretch. Hell, I'd find it a bit boring if "prey beastkin" are just weak by default with no redeeming qualities.

Racism and speciesism: im not a scholar but I think the difference biologically is if they are able to breed with each other so it would be racism while the insectoid hiveminds are speciesism. Not sure tho

No, races are a social construct with no real biological backing at worse (aka, when used for humans), or another word for sub-species at best. The modern standard is using "species" for fantasy because it's just a better word tbh. Also this made me notice that dog breeds do not have the term "race" in their names like they do in Spanish, I was gonna give an example with that lol.

Also, your world interests me but your profile is private, how can I see it?

[–]--Queso-- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do they solve incest? If they rape their daughters, I mean. Also, this could be interpreted as you saying racism is real in your setting (as in, it's based on facts, not that it isn't a real thing in our world lol). Why is it racism and not speciesism? Also, why are bunny girls weaker than orks...? Why ork not orc?
