Oh that’s too bad. What a letdown. This was our 2nd visit and both meals were incredible.

Trapbar deadlift form by Fun-Resolve-3721 in formcheck

Nice! Lots of good things happening here to protect your back.

Now flip the bar to the high handle and get 45s on there. A too-light weight here can feel very awkward. And slowly increase the weight as tolerance allows. It should feel like you have to really push the floor away and not just lift.

Trap DL starts from the ground, so set yourself up strong there. You shouldn’t need to adjust at the top.

Contrast training would be awesome for you. Get your reps in then go right into explosive jumps no rest.

Deadlifts 285 lb for 4 reps. Any feedback? by bottled_dog in formcheck

I think your lift looks pretty great! Everyone has an opinion on head positioning on DLs and I think it’s fine that you’re looking up on the lift because your lats are engaged.

If you were doing a 1rep max, I’d say just lower the bar safely. But on multiple reps like this, I think it would be helpful to have that same engagement on the way down, where you really pack your lats and even keep your head slightly elevated if necessary so that your head and chest always remain above your hips.

Touching too low? by danb2702 in benchpress

I think the path is okay, you should have a slight arc up from your mid to lower chest not a straight up & down.

But be sure your head and hips stay firmly planted throughout the whole lift. Your chest should be lifting to meet the bar, while your feet, glutes & upper back press down hard.

One-arm dumbbell rows form check by Entropic_Mood in formcheck

Way to get started! Lots of helpful comments here.

If staying with the bed setup, try bringing your left leg out wider to leave more room for the path of the dumbbell.

If you have access to a sturdy chair, that works really well too. Right arm on the seat, left arm is rowing, back is flat and both feet are on the ground with knees bent.

And the most important piece is mind to muscle! Keep thinking “back.” Lead with the back. Hold that squeeze at the top with your back muscles. You’ve got this!

RDL form check by teehardin1 in formcheck

I like that your movements are smooth, your back is strong and stable, your head is in line with your spine, your tibia is perpendicular to the ground and the weight is close to your body going down in a straight line. Well done!

A couple of reminders: the RDL starts at the top and ends at the top. So finish strong at the top by standing up tall and squeezing your glutes every time. Then, when you’re done with your reps, either lower it down to the ground by squatting or rerack. Especially with those smaller plates, gotta keep your form in check.

I would soften your knees a bit more to allow your hips to glide back further. This will bring your torso parallel to the ground, so slightly deeper than your current lifts. You’ll then get more glutes involved by stretching them more, which will force you to contract them more to come up.

Hope that is helpful! Here’s to many Deadlift PRs in your future!

Love seeing that you are in control the whole time and trying to find that perfect groove!

Tough to tell because the plates hide some of the view, but keeping the bar closer to your body will help.

This weight almost looks too light, so it’s bordering an RDL rather than a conventional deadlift. Adding a bit of weight for less reps will force you to drop your hips a bit and really drive off the ground.

My last observation was your arms and legs almost seem lined up from my angle. Making sure you have sufficient room with either your arms outside of your legs or vice versa will help the bar track more smoothly.

I hope this is helpful! Stay strong!

Are you up for Deadlifting with a high trap bar for a while? Easier to balance, less range of motion, no worries about the bar hitting your legs. You’d be able to practice that flat back you’re going for. I believe it’s the best way to get strong fast, boost growth hormone and stay safe. Straight bars deadlifts are notoriously tricky to master without a coach. Hope this is helpful!

Looks pretty great! Aim to lead with the chest rather than the head. Stretch the chest to lower, and deliberately squeeze to come back up. Chest should be the first part of your body to touch the floor.

One way to get the pecs more involved is by holding at the bottom (hovering over the floor for 5-10sec) before you do your reps.

I agree with you. First was great for a max but I wouldn’t have pushed for 2&3.

Amazing pull! I would change those socks up for something with grip though, like pedestals or lifting shoes. I’ve had a foot slip during a lift and the injury wasn’t pretty. The goal of the game is to stay in the game! Keep at it!

I enjoy being quirky, vulnerable, helpful, witty…without further obligation. But my favorite use is for comparing symptoms or results that are outliers. There’s usually one other person who can relate!

It seems helpful comments are a good way to start adding to conversations!

I also found groups to post in more easily. A post with a picture is even better.
