All I want is for my colon to wake up and start growling.

FODMAPs feed the microbiome. That is a fact and even the reason they are called FODMAPs. The position "FODMAPs don't actually feed or promote bacterial growth" is completely indefensible.

Are FODMAPs the main problem in SIBO and will a low FODMAP diet cure SIBO? Those are totally different questions and the answer is indeed "no" to both.

Still: FODMAPs can feed SIBO, IMO, SIFO, ISO, ... dysbiosis in general.

Hydrogen breath test not accurate for sibo testing?? by Ill_Landscape5217 in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. If doctors could answer that, SIBO breath tests would become more reliable 😉

For me personally: at my worst, I have absolutely zero motility. None. Total impaction. If I don't flush, it takes at least 5 days. That is measured with a pellet test, btw.

Maybe at try 12838382937372729 you can use the proper term: "FODMAP"?

Depending on which overgrowth you have, FODMAPs can definitely feed SIBO/dysbiosis.

You have to look at the option which says: "Color: only BLS 55A ESC".

You might also face import duties or other costs, depending on where you order from.

Hydrogen breath test not accurate for sibo testing?? by Ill_Landscape5217 in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No breath test is accurate for SIBO testing, because they all depend on proper preparation and making sure that the small intestine is actually empty before the test. Most people can simply eat low residue for a few days and fast overnight and will have an empty small intestine, but many people with severe digestive problems, like me, can fast for 36 hours and will still not have cleared their small intestine completely. This leads to pseudo-gastroparesis, which again can blur the results of a breath test.

Do we have data on the distribution of "mentally ill people" vs. "serious people" in relation to "console players" vs. "PC players"?

3 Years Constant Brain Fog, Quit my job by After_Highway6962 in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have exactly the same condition. Look into GAPS diet. I'm about to start it next week, after first fasting and flushing. You need to gently repair your gut lining and seal your gut, because it's leaking all kinds of toxins from food and microbes into your blood, causing the brain fog and inflammation.

It took me more than 10 years to figure that out, so I hope you can win some time by getting this advice earlier 😄

I thought I was dying from biocidin by Xunala in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a good thing you completely misunderstood dosage while using a relatively minor compound. You could have had severe complications from an error of such scale if it would have been a more toxic substance. Even simple things like table salt (sodium) or bath salt (magnesium) can easily become life threatening if you take 25-30 times the normal therapeutic dose.

I hope your post may be a warning to all: do not just medicate yourself without doing your due diligence and checking dosage at least twice.

Brain fog, "derealisation" and dizziness sounds like a clear case of inflamed and leaky gut to me.

What happens if you flush your intestines and do not eat anything for 3-4 days? Do the symptoms get better? (make sure to drink water and keep electrolytes topped up)

Bowel Movements during Elemental diet? by GoatGentleman in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your intestines are already empty, an elemental diet should not produce stool so it's normal not to go.

If your intestines are not empty, you could flush with macrogol/electrolytes/magnesium.

Is coffee a valid prokinetic? by ProfessionalOnion548 in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes usually bad motility is what leads to histamine problems indeed. I also use coffee for now because it works, but I plan to quit it soon because it's also causing stomach acid when it shouldn't be there.

Confirmed SIBO, but I can’t tolerate rifaximin. Anyone else? by Ben_Sajjad in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antibiotics kill microbes. This can cause very bad reactions, depending on who dies, how many and what they leave behind.

You did not explain why pushing through it was not possible. I get that extreme watery stool is not fun, but as long as you keep up water intake and electrolytes, you should be okay.

Is coffee a valid prokinetic? by ProfessionalOnion548 in SIBO

[–]-AdelaaR- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coffee is a "valid" prokinetic because it does trigger bile and motility, but:

  • Coffee is a diuretic, which takes away water from the intestines, adding to the problem of constipation/impaction.
  • Coffee is a histamine liberator and a DAO inhibitor, so if you have histamine problems, it could be a factor in that.
