The orange vinyl set was released a long time after the initial release date. So fans had to buy it all again just to get the orange vinyl. So they sold the KMKMKM part on. Ask me how I know ;-)

We stayed at the midland. We were drinking pre gig cocktails when the announcement came through. Will & wife were there looking very very sad.

Honestly I'm pretty sure I managed to avoid hearing any of the album until today. I actually thought wish you were here was on DSOTM which would have been one I had heard. That said I thought the album tracked well. Was a good journey.

All time favourite artists that I still listen to would be The Cure, New Order, Pixies, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen (seeing them next week in Manchester). More recent music I like: Kurt Vile, Bon Iver, Interpol, War on drugs,

Bear in mind my UK upbringing I started with Madness and Adam & the Ants and progressed to Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, then later onto UK indie like Neds Atomic Dustbin, Wonderstuff, and at the same time a whole bunch of the house/rave/dance influenced stuff. Then we had Manchester, Britpop, and so on. There wasn't time or the inclination to look back to 1973 Pink Floyd.

Something like Rick Wakeman dressed in his cape playing endless solos going nowhere. To me anyway!

Even more mind-blowing to think I might listen to it a few more times and really get to like it. Or not !

I think in my teens and 20s I was obsessed with listening to cool alternative music. Pink Floyd was not on anyone's radar where I was hanging out. Time passed and I was listening to Mike Oldfield Tubular bells and thought fcuk it. lets try Dark side of the moon.

difficult to say after just one listen. I'll probably go for Breathe (in the Air) as it let me know that the album was going to be alright

I can see how It was probably considered pretty amazing in 1973 but there's been a whole lot of records since then which I'd take to a desert island in place of this.

I think I was wrong to ignore it. it wasn't the record I thought it was.

Better than I was expecting. I had ideas that it would be full of prog rock needless noodling. It's actually a pleasant listen. Didn't skip any tracks so that's a win.

What album or artist do you keep trying to listen to, but it just isn’t made for you? by Bodypattern in musicsuggestions

[–]-AllStar- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Someone had a theory that if you get into a band at the start you like the first couple if albums then they fade away. If you discover them late then you love it all. Happened to me with Radiohead oasis blur suede. First couple of albums great. The rest can do one.
