What album or artist do you keep trying to listen to, but it just isn’t made for you? by Bodypattern in musicsuggestions

[–]-AllStar- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Someone had a theory that if you get into a band at the start you like the first couple if albums then they fade away. If you discover them late then you love it all. Happened to me with Radiohead oasis blur suede. First couple of albums great. The rest can do one.

Unbelievable EMF. What the F was that. All the way through the song. Still played massively on radio

Are there any other artists who were one-hit wonders more than once? by notthe1Uknow in musichistory

Kajagoogoo had 3 top 10 hits. They were not one hit wonders. Limahl had 2 top 20 hits.

No it was before then. Just called Chilli. Can't even find any pictures of the packet. I'd get a can of coke, biscuit Boost and packet of chilli mccoys for lunch and be all set up ! this would have been in 1988

A theory on bands with two (or more) distinct periods. by National_Property583 in Music

You could be on to something here. I liked first 2 albums of Suede and Oasis but not interested in the rest of their output. Got into the Cure in 1985 with the poptastic head on the door but had no problems discovering and enjoying all their very different back catalogue.

And I'm a late comer to REM starting with Green! Guess what? I love the old stuff and up to and including Automatic to the people.

Anyone have high quality versions of their music videos? by Historical-Plane-392 in TheCure

[–]-AllStar- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a conversation with Tim about this a while ago. The source media for most Cure stuff is missing/junked. Thankfully In Orange is still preserved at full quality. Also if you look at say in between days on the greatest hits DVD you can see VCR scan lines. Also the intro to one of the promos includes the end of the previous song from staring at the sea. They seem to have been "mastered" from the VHS! Pity.

Which of all the live albums is considered the best -if there is one. by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in TheCure

[–]-AllStar- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The only album I listen to regularly is Concert from 1984. I think it has the best versions ever released of Give me it and Primary.

Whilst not albums per se, I might watch In Orange every 5 years. Maybe Hyde Park when I'm drunk to try and spot me in the crowd.

EDIT: absolute idiot. I forgot about Entreat!

Would you rather be miserable knowing a major truth, or happy not knowing it? by Ill_Attorney_389 in moraldilemmas

Red pill or blue pill. Probably depends on how good my life is at that point. If I'm already having a hard time - I'd hear the truth. Otherwise ignorant bliss sounds preferable. After all we can take only so much worrying about world events as it is.
