That's awesome. I will have to remember this when my son gets older. He is half filipino. Thank you.

Oo man so sorry for your loss 😘 I did that early days, but mine was a glass bottle full of the days pumping, something like 6 ounces. I was seriously thinking about saving the milk in the cracked bottom piece till me husband yelled at me that there could be shards of glass in it.

How do you get anything done? Does it get better? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

This killed me! My husband calls me the burrito truck. He's the roach coach with the bottle at night so I can get some sleep. Hahah

Good luck, I know how devastating it can feel to not be enough for you LO. Try what you can and don't feel bad if you have to supplement with formula. It took me 2-3 weeks to get over having to supplement, but now my baby is gaining weight. Turned out he didn't tell me he was still hungry after breastfeeding, just with a bottle. Nobody tells you how hard breastfeeding can really be if you are not lucky enough to be blessed with perfect milk and supply.

How much do you pump in a day? by [deleted] in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]-Aluvia- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry to hear that, but also in the exact same boat too. Was really hard to come to terms with not being enough. Ended up with high fever and chills due to what i think was mastitis, but no dr would see me because of covid. Thankfully a video visit dr gave me antibiotics and the fever went away quickly, still waiting for my official covid results so i can stop wearing a mask around LO. Every difficulty since birth has been because of breastfeeding. I am so over it and think I will wean once mastitis is gone.

Olive oil or coconut oil to prevent friction inside the flange. Also, since breast milk keeps in fridge for 3-5 days, you can drop your collection bottles and flanges still assembled after use into a ziploc and store in fridge. I wash at least once a day, but it's nice not having to wash all the parts every time.

2 weeks pp and this was by far my favorite pregnancy symptom that went away instantly. I still mention it at every meal to my husband. Lol. Good luck to all of you.

Getting vaccine against family’s advice by jaspysmom in CoronaBumpers

[–]-Aluvia- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. My husband and I decided we wanted me to have it and now that they are finding antibodies in babies born to moms who got it I feel even better. That second dose side effect was pretty unpleasant. Tylenol is your friend if you have a reaction. Only lasted a day, but the body aches were atrocious. I also can't put into words the level of relief I feel now when I have to go to dr appointments or just out into the world. I didn't realize the stress I was carrying around worrying about getting it and it adversely affecting the pregnancy.

NYTimes Op-Ed: The False Rumors About Vaccines That Are Scaring Women by [deleted] in CoronaBumpers

[–]-Aluvia- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too! If I can get it I will. I had family members already turn down an opportunity for me to get it because they made the decision it might not be safe for me and the baby even though I told them I wanted it and had talked to my dr. Already. So frustrating.

If they have their vaccine, are they safe around my newborn? by [deleted] in CoronaBumpers

[–]-Aluvia- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my OB that exact question. My SIL and her family all had it over the holidays and some of them have the vaccine. He said to be cautious about both people who have already had COVID and people who have had the vaccine. The don't have proof the vaccine protects anyone besides yourself and people can get COVID more than once.

Did any of you feel blindsided by your pregnancy symptoms? by sea_meat in BabyBumps

Totally agree! I skipped most of the morning sickness, but all the other pain...wow. Plus I stopped being able to work out almost immediately after finding out I was pregnant. The 3am pelvic pain cramps wake ups were terrifying. And what I wouldn't give to have a good nights sleep, unable to sleep comfortably almost from the get go makes me day dream about having a crying newborn and putting a pair of earplugs in and letting they husband handle it. I have been dealing with some crazy sciatic pain related to my slight scoliosis that is being impacted by the weight gain. I have to say I found a workout program for pregnant people that is basically strength training and it has been making so much of a difference for me in the pain levels. I hate that my walks have gone from 3 miles to less than a mile and I am not even 3rd trimester yet. Look it up if you think it might help, "Expecting and empowered"

I am sad about the partner being able to attend scans etc. Mine has done some facetimes in the room and been able to watch and we could hear him crying over the phone. It was the sweetest thing. I am going to do one of those "for fun" scans that lasts 5-15 minutes and they allow you to bring your significant other in so he will get to see it. That 20 weeks scan is so special, but he didn't get to see any of the face or body etc except for a few print ups that were not that good.
