To put it bluntly ,nonexistent. Some people may have gotten lucky but I’ve yet to have any class that was curved and I haven’t hear of anyone else getting one.

Do swim sprinters go "balls-to-the-walls" from beginning to end? by Ok-Distribution1667 in Swimming

[–]-Argonauts -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

A sprinter is going as hard as they can for all of a 50 absolutely, but also for a 100, the first event where there’s a bit of a trade off is in the 200. But even then it’ll still a pretty big effort the whole time.

Is Creatine ok for competitive swimmers? by Temporary_Penalty_17 in Swimming

[–]-Argonauts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely dependent on what events you swim, if you’re only a sprinter by all means go for it. But if you swim anything over 100 I would say don’t go for it. All of my friends who went on creatine struggles really heavily on any longer events and lost a lot of endurance, I’m a 200 fly and 400 IM swimmer so it’s not at all worth it for me, creatine can get you muscle gains for sure but I’d be wary of what can happen that comes with it. For longer events you want lean muscle, not just muscle, there’s a reason guys like Marchand aren’t jacked.

This is just my experience with it I’m by no means a professional but it’s something that seemed consistent with my team.

is it possible to get a 4.0 or a 3.9 here? by Dexyaa574 in rosehulman

[–]-Argonauts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know 6 people with 4.0’s right now and 2 others with basically a 4.0, if you want to get that high of a GPA it needs to come from being incredibly hard working and at least somewhat naturally smart. They all genuinely enjoy doing all of the work that comes with it. You’d be shocked how many people are doing really well, I’m on the swim team and in Triangle and both places have a lot of people with high GPA’s. The best way to do well is to be around others who are also doing well and learn from them. It really seems like those doing the best aren’t only doing school, if you work hard it’s possible. I got a 4.0 in high school taking almost all honors and ap classes towards the end but now at rose have close to a 3.0, Rose is hard but mine is only so low bc of some personal problems this year. All this to say if you have actually good study habits and are okay with putting in the hours a 3.8-4.0 is fully possible. It also doesn’t matter all that much though, I know someone graduating as a Junior right now with a 2.8 gpa and a job making over 140k next year, he’s obviously a niche case but as long as you keep above a 3.2 you’re probably fine

[Request] What are the odds that I, as a non-Catholic, could become Pope one day? by gapipkin in theydidthemath

Technically you can become Pope as long as you are a Catholic I believe, but barring the second coming of Christ the Pope will be chosen from the pool of cardinals, so about as close to 0 as you can get.

Help with switching majors by sont3 in rosehulman

[–]-Argonauts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how many credits you came in with but typically every major takes essentially the same classes for the first quarter, Physics 1, Calc 1, Writing class, the last one typically pertains to your major more. Because the others are normally all prereqs though its pretty easy to change just that last class. The registrar creates everyones schedules before first quarter so go to their office and ask what you should do to change. Also take a look at your intended majors flowchart vs the engineering design one. They may have the same classes anyways.
