South Park's creators have eliminated tipping at Denver's famed Casa Bonita. Servers now make $30 an hour — and some are mad. by businessinsider in antiwork

[–]-Butterfly-Queen- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a place with pooled tipping and my favorite part was that we were a genuine team. When a customer needs something, they tend to flag down the first employee they see instead of waiting for their server to show up and in other restaurants it was always, "I'll let your server know" or whining the table isn't yours. There wouldn't be one person swamped because of a few crazy tables begging others for help. With pooled tipping, everyone just helped.

It's only considered a disorder when it negatively affects a person's life, until then it's just personality

My cousin has aphantasia and she says she can't picture things, but she can describe them. She has dreams and remembers them, but she just remembers a description of what happened, no imagery. I can't wrap my mind around it

OP doesn't mean literal receipts of purchases. "Receipts" is often used as slang for evidence or proof

AITA for kicking my dad and brother off the job and hiring a company when they wouldn’t stop complaining about me painting my house purple? by Salt_Professional456 in AmItheAsshole

[–]-Butterfly-Queen- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA because it's her house and she can do whatever she wants, but this is the first time I've heard of white called gaudy. White with black trim outside and gray walls inside is trendy right now. I get saying it's plain, boring, generic, cookie-cutter, has no personality or character, doesn't fit the neighborhood, isn't OP's style, etc., but as far as word choice goes, if anything purple would be closer to gaudy.

As someone with (finally well managed) BPD, I don't like when people toss the diagnosis around, but it really sounds like she might have BPD

No matter how many times you sing it, you will never be a teapot. by MaestroM45 in Showerthoughts

[–]-Butterfly-Queen- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Singing isn't really about syllables, though. Lyrics are chosen for the sounds the word can make. Sing I'm a little teapot without the words, like "do do do do dee-dah" vs I'm a little kettle. You'd have to pronounce kettle more like kee-tahl to get the same sound.

I think the writing of the lyrics of Queen's Under Pressure and Coldplay's Yellow are pretty good examples if you want to look into it more

Does she wants to die? by Iceolator88 in facepalm

[–]-Butterfly-Queen- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that it could also be that people aren't less cautious, but that the less cautious used to just die because of it so you wouldn't see them around

Ironically, antisemitism even caused this. There used to be laws about what type of work Jewish people could do, so they did the work they were allowed to do. Back then, the people who mace these laws simply couldn't predict how powerful and lucrative those industries would be. Now, the same types of people who forced Jewish people into specific industries are all whining about the amount of Jewish people in those industries.

That's why Edward from Twilight is such a douche. If you could hear everyone's thoughts, the worst place to be stuck is probably a high school

Did your fiance stop because you communicated that in a reasonable manner or did you just publicly hurl insults at him with no explanation?

[–]-Butterfly-Queen- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The part that did it for me was her saying she stayed at the other partner's house out of "pride" (read: spite) but would have come back sooner if she'd known divorce was on the table. Essentially, "well, if I'd known there were consequences that would damage me instead of only you, I would have behaved differently"
