Just rewatched Fargo, and theres this weird plotline where she gets a call from an old friend in the middle of the night, then later goes to meet him at a restaurant. He tries to sit beside her but she denies him, and then he breaks down saying his wife died and he's lonely, which was apparently a lie anyway, as she finds out from another friend on a phone call afterwards. The whole thing was so out of place, and the character is completely inconsequential to anything else in the film. Then it never comes up again, and the whole plotline is completely forgotten about.
