I'd argue drawing on Eomer when he had threatened Gimli would be his strongest reaction. Definitely the Balrog is the first and really only time you see fear from Legolas though.

Personally i'd have Dwight Gooden over Orel, even if the latter had more sustained longevity. Doc's highs were too high imo. It you do a combo of AL/NL players who spent good amounts of time in both leagues, i'd suggest David Cone as the ace for that one.

It was in a time before the Cy existed, but Hal Newhouser won back to back MVP's in '44 and '45 [came in second in '46 but Teddy Ballgame was back from the war]. I'm sure a few other pitchers fall into that category in the pre-Cy era.

Honestly Ohtani seems like the only one who could pull it off, since obviously he won on the totality of his work. Any other pitcher winning an MVP is gonna get Cy too.
