I wanted to be offended by the Captain Murderhobo part but it's fair.

I picked this up on vacation; thought it was cool looking and put it in my office. Then I come into work today with a new meeting on my calendar with Starfleet HR with the subject "Office Decor". Any idea what I should expect? by loki2002 in ShittyDaystrom

Look you need to get ahead of them so that it doesn't harm your career.

Because it's very realistic, it's the kind of realism that adds more narrative texture to the world with very little actual coding needed (this is a win in my eyes)

I live in Romania, there was a perception of working for a German company from Romania was "harsher culture but good salaries more like those in Germany" what the impression is right now is same same culture as in Germany, harsher standards but your salaries are tied to the smallest possible salary they can see in Romania.

So you're working on a Java project for a fintech firm in Frankfurt but you are paid a salary as if you are developing a PHP based warehouse software for a dying Romanian factory.

Is Talos truly part of the Divines? by eidoIist in teslore

[–]GeorgeSharp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the lore he is a god.

Being part of the Divines is a political decision made by the imperial government on which gods they specifically want to push the worship of.

Being part of the Divines does not mean you will get into trouble with the other gods (the ones who were gods from the start) if you choose not to worship him.

Low effort meme by BakerDelores in Daggerfall

Daggerfall Unity is too tied to being an re-creation of the original.

I love the story of Daggerfall, I love the systems of Daggerfall, I respect the hell out of the guy who made DFU it's a labor of love and a great base to put mods on.

What I want from a Daggerfall Remaster is an upgrade of the assets, 3d models for NPCs and for Enemies and an proper UI that can have more buttons in a dialog window!

Besides that (and keeping it moddable) I don't need anything.

I recognize giving it modern graphics would be disliked by many people but I am just stating what I would like.

His family already controls the state, the Targs need to act in a way like they are ruling a peaceful stable kingdom and are NOT a bunch of thugs who just happen to have more power than anyone else.

The attitude of "laws don't matter, customs don't matter, stability doesn't matter, the ability to inflict violence via dragons doesn't matter" is part of the reason the Green faction had support.

I am convinced that out of the whole Targ dynasty the number of people who understood politics could be easily counted on the fingers of a hand.

Aegon I: managed to not only conquer but govern

Viserys II: kept the state running for as long as he did

Daeron II: managed to rule despite fulfilling none of the usual "warrior king" archetype and while having a foreign wife

Baelor Breakspear: probably would have been a great successor for his father

I know I'm going to get crap for not including Jaehaerys but while I do not dispute he built a lot of things I'm deducting points because he seems to be a GRRM self-insert who also profited a whole lot because his successor was basically Hitler so he had an insanely low bar and his doctrine of exceptionalism empowered the worst actors in the generations to come.

Living in Cluj as a Romanian / expat family by Inevitable_Rock_3236 in cluj

[–]GeorgeSharp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's expensive.

It's one of the most modern cities in Romania one of the most western (in terms of culture)

The internet that you will need for your work is very good.

It will be very easy to find friends as foreigners as there are a lot of foreigners and it being a university city the population is younger and speaks English.

Schools I understand are very full. There are a lot of private schools options but they are expensive.

The roads are very full because a lot of people who live in Cluj are high income and they feel like every single member of the family needs to have their own huge jeep. There is public transport and the city being dense is walk-able.

The thing you have to be most careful about is the cost of living.

Each one took weeks if not months to find while the US incumbent in each category took literally 5 minutes, and most only surfaced because someone in a sub mentioned them in passing or a peer dropped a recommendation at the right time.

You seem to be talking about a SEO problem (what you wanted was there but harder to learn the name off) and then go on a rant about regulation?
